assault andy is totally right, the background is too complicated.
ok the problem is that digital dreams took assault andy's advice the wrong way, and started everyone tlaking about making the bg lighter and darker, etc, but that won't work either
I think you should also add some differant wall tiles, it is very hard on the eyes to see the same pattern over and over. Add things like pipes and containers in the background.
assault andy never said taht the background was complicated, rather he was advising to make it MORE complicated, because the tiled background is a strain on the eyes, lighter/darker/or the same, it's waaay to repetitive, so to take away from the repetitiveness, he advised to add more dynamic background objects, such as pipes, and ocntainers, and my advice is to possibly layer them somewhat, that way giving the game more depth, rather than looking so flat
sensation your just confusing things. Keep it simple. The defiantone05- i persoanlly think your background is too complicated, i would take away the use of black as youve already outlined your main characters in black. Or you could do as sensation suggests and add depth. But then it could end up looking like a typical mario fan game or sonic game. Try and be unique with your backgrounds and think 'would there really be pipelines and hills with smiley faces in tatooine?
okay, its not complicated, its just a busy pattern. to me thats complicated for the eyes. Too much if you like. U could have said u had scrapped that level!!
well ignore those pics and just jude that sand crawler level im working on now.
actually go download those pics and zoom in and look the glowiness in his light saber. it looks quite good. the colors blurred together when i made the pic a jpeg.
