Should our community have a game rating (like an ESRB rating)?
The game would be rated by the game creator and his/her beta testers. If the game was sutible for all ages, it would get an 'A' (or something) for 'All Ages', a 12+ (for 12 and older) a 'T' (for teen,) and a 18+ (for 18 or older).
A- Content sutible for all ages
12+ -Some mild volience
T - Volience and some mild languge
18+ - Volience, adult themes and languge
We could change the ratings, because right now they suck.
What do you think?
Fine Garbage since 2003.
CURRENT PROJECT:
-Paying off a massive amount of debt in college loans.
-Working in television.
This has been suggested before - I think that Newgrounds does something similar in that authors are asked to rate their own creations for age suitability. Most people here should be able to rate their own games suitably.
Is it really necessary, though? I've only seen one member complain about the content of a game, and he seemed to hold fairly extreme views on censorship to say the least. If I find something offensive, which is fairly unlikely, I can just delete it from my hard drive.
Also, if a game contains volience and languge, I think it needs a spell checker more than a rating!
You've seen one? I've seen many, mostly Asparagus Trevor's games and some game with "interactive rape" called The Last Resurrection or something. Although it won GOTW, I think Shadz' removed it because of it's content.
Meh, I smell a general poll. Perhaps then people could make more violent and offensive games, the kind of games I like.
Erm yeah, I'd agree with some kind of rating system although I don't think it's massively important. I usually give warnings about mine anyway. Like Wong said, there's only been a few complaints from joyless bastards in the past.
People have occasionally come up with various ideas for ratings over the years, they never really get used voluntarily so it would have to be a feature built in to TDC or something to be effective.
Wong: Yeah, I wouldn't worry about ARGHT It's a fake account set up by a few of my friends. I laughed my... behind off whenever s/he made a post (is it ok to say the A-word?)
- Ok, you must admit that was the most creative cussing this site have ever seen -
Personally, its a good idea, but not for use in a community where most of us know each other & what kinds of games we make. The site itself is for all ages, so to be honest, without a warning or something in the discription, all our games should be the same, for all ages. Depending on if kids younger then 12 have the knowledge to play the game is not the point, the point is, all our games hould be sutable for all ages unless we actually add something like "This game includes explict scenes not sutable for children 14+" or what ever.
The only person I could imagen having a game like this would be Phizzy, no offence Phizzy, but I think a good number of people can agree on that. Dont quote me on this though, because there are a few other people that could be questionable, Phizzy just seems to appear most vivid in mind for making an explict games. Not sure why exactly, it could be a number 1 thing, one of which being "Phizzy the Man Whore" but I wont go any farther.

Brandon, stop baiting Phizzy. He's not the only person who posts content unsuitable for everyone, and we're not in the habit of refusing such content. Warnings do fine.
