Hello, everybody! I was actually curious as to whether or not there are any photographers out there. Photography is one of my favorite hobbies and I was wondering if anyone else happens to like it as well. If you do, please post some of your photos, I would really like to see them. You can post anything, just as long as it is nothing suggestible. I study a lot of entomology, I take a lot of pictures of insects, arachnids, and other anthropods and hexapods. Here is a picture I took of a silver-spotted skipper (epargyreus clarus) on day eating from my million bells.
Thanks guys, these are some good pictures. I especially like the picture of your cat on the shelf, Phredreeke. Here is another shot that I took of a bold jumping spider (phidippus audax), which is killing a japanese beetle (popillia japonica)
my dads a proffesional Photographer... he has around 30 cameras for some, very random reason. He only needs one to take a picture but never mind. Check out his recent picture of one of my many fish
oh and chicken arent they both just grey tabbies? Dogs rule anyway, all three of mine caught a cat the other day, extra dog biscuits i believe were required for the event... of course the cat fought back...
I prefer animation to photography, unfortunately i can't show you any examples (its all lego lol) until i figure out a way to record from my video camera.
I guess i could record onto a vhs tape and try to capture that through my videocard somehow. Hmmmm.
That's your opinion, yes. But know that there are other people who doesn't think the same way as you do. Right now you are saying it like "Cats suck. And I'm right about it".
To make sure you don't end up in great fights with them, you probably oughta tell us that 'this is my opinion'.
Cats do actually suck... carpet and shagpile rugs. they lick them too. Nuklear your dogs are cool, love the black and white dude!
These are my "poodles" except theyre cooler. Theyre proper dogs, i believe a proper dog is developed from the stucture of a wolf, none of this poodle or toy dog buisness, although Nuklear, your black and white dude is cool.
I like the big dogs. I like all dogs. But my partents seem to love shih tzu's. (shit zoo's) But your dogs are cool to. Which black dude? Is he chewing a bone or standing and I am on his level.
You should know by now you are the loser here, you are alergic, you have to sell your dogs to keep your family from starvation, you can't spell and nobody gives a shit about you and your games.
Yeah but i have a perfect reason for hating them, having my face clawed open by a scraggy old black cat in a shop doesnt leave fond memories when your five years old. And my face was clawed. Hayo are you a cat?
Actually I was attacked by dogs when I was pretty young, but that didn't make me think "oh, all dogs are evil, they are on my shit list now". I filled that list with all the guys and girls who said bad things about animals.
I very much like your pictures Spork and Clubsoft!
Spork, your insects are very cool in interesting. They really look wierd and alien when photographed up close. Maybe they are even beautiful?
thats ignorance. Dogs dont piss, shit and drool on everything if theyre house trained. My dogs are trained to piss and shit at the back of one of our borders in our garden, which is used for grass cuttings. They drool only when theres food around, which shouldnt be in their presence due to the fact that they shouldnt be allowed to beg for tip-bits, if trained correctly, should be sent to their designated sleeping/dog area. AND! if anyones every watched crufts, dogs can "dance"
Thank you, hop. I suppose some bugs do seem strange up close, but that is one reason I like to study them.
NationaILiberal, congratulations! Did you use a digital camera? If you did and you have those pictures on a computer, I would really like to see them.
Here is a shot of a reddish-brown stag beetle (lucanus capreolus) who is missing a leg and is in the ready position to bite. I think it lost its leg in a fight with another beetle for a mate or either it was a bad battle with a robber fly.
I just like to take pictures of dogs. Only big dogs drool.

Uh Hayo were way richer than you i can garentee we sold our dogs because its illeagle to have more than Four in our neiborhood and the reason we had them is because our dog had puppies so hayo bet you live in a caed board box compaired to us
DaVince This fool just HAD to have a custom rating
Great pictures, NationaILiberal. I also used to take a lot of pictures of sunsets and sunrises, but I don't have any of my good ones anymore. However, I still do have two pictures that I managed to find on my old flash drive.
I agree, being a hobo is very rewarding. You get to sleep in "caed" board boxes, you get to scrounge for food in trash cans, you get to collect soda bottles on the side of the road and return them in the grocery store, that is if you're not kicked out, and, if you're lucky, somebody might give you a dollar just as long as you don't mug them.
If intelligence is bliss, why aren't there more happy people?
To quote one of my favourite books You are Worthless:
Why I hate Dogs
-Dogs lick everything
-Dogs Drool on everything
-Dogs slobber on everything
-Dogs pounce on everything
-Dogs poop on everything
-Dogs are stronger than I am
-Dogs could overpower me and kill me
-Dogs are too outgoing
-Dogs give me the creeps
-Dogs are like big, dumb buddies who never leave, like Lenny from Of Mice and Men, only with deadly fangs and no bowel control.
-Dogs are whiners
-Dogs are too damed happy all the time.
-Dogs are too damned loud
-Dogs stink
Why I hate Cats
-Cats scratch everything
-Cats barf on everything
-Cats shed hair on everything
-Cats just want to be pet all the time, (what am I, a full time masseuse?)
-Cats yowl all the time.
-Cats lick their own butts right in front of me while I'm trying to eat.
-Cats think they're better than me.
-Cats are stuck-up.
-Cats are mean.
-Cats don't care if there are intruders in my house.
-Cats just scurry around like rats all the time. If they had tails that looked like a rats, I'd pay someone to exterminate them.
Fine Garbage since 2003.

The quality of the negative points are more important than the quantity. However, the quality of the negative points is a matter of opinion and most people will not share the same opinions as another person. Therefore, there will be no definite answer as to whether or not cats or dogs suck. You guys will be fighting about this until you get bored with it, and you will never have an outcome as to whether cats or dogs suck because it is a matter of opinion and people are always going to have different views to the argument. So I simply ask, why the hell are you fighting about this when you know that somebody is going to have an opposing view to what you say?

I'm doing a photography course at college next year - unfortunately I have no experience in the topic and thus I have no photos to show you. Apparantly I'm supposed to be taking pictures of "a place that's special to me". Where the fuck's that? I guess I'll just turn up at college with a couple of pictures of a bed or sommert.
What inspired you to learn photography in college if you never had experience? Is it a prerequisite for another coarse or is it required to take a photography coarse for you field? What are you majoring? What college are you going to?

One of my favourite types of photography is highspeed. Take a look at this site with images of air rifles blowing stuff up .
holy shite you have WAY too many fish in that tank. Cruel. Ive got a tank around 3 times the size and i wouldnt dream of adding that many. Actually, it crashed last nite killing a fish and nearly killing the others, damn filter.
Radix your a fool. Acaras can grow upto 20cm in length, both of mine did within a year and a half. Theres around 10-15 of the fish in this tank by the looks of things. aswell as the comets, sharks, and catfish. They certainly wouldnt be fine in a tank half that size.
I admit, there are a lot of fish in there, but the photos give a false impression of the size of the tank.
A friend of a friend is a fish breeder. I'll probably give the yellowish striped cichlids to him, as they will grow to large for the tank in those numbers. (you should see the tank I brought them up in, now THAT was crowded) Most of the other fish are rather tiny actually.
- Ok, you must admit that was the most creative cussing this site have ever seen -
There are no goldfish in there... If you mean the little red fish, they are barbs. I dunno about the fish you call "acaras". I think you mean the yellow, black striped ones. I was told that they are Nicaraguense cichlids. They do grow big though. I think 10 is a good guess on their numbers.

Those are some good shots, Phrizzy. The colors are very vivid.
I know what this bug is, but I want to see you all guess what type it is first. Just guess what major family, such as beetles or wasps. You'll be suprised when I tell you what it is. However, I will tell you that it is in the Melittia subfamily.
Almost, Phrizzy. It is a moth known as a squash vine borer (melittia cucurbitae). They feed off of the fluids in the stems of different squashes, such as pumpkins or cucumbers.

hey thats cool, ill be up there in 2 weeks! GONNA do some bitching shopping too.Heres a picture of my bro in NY... I did have a picture of me up one of the twin towers but i cant find it darn it.
Those are some nice shots, everybody. Colej_uk, I'm just glad I wasn't up there! I probably would have vomitted over the edge and put a hole through sombody's foot at the bottom.
You're right, Phred. That cat is evil!
Here is a shot of a flesh fly (sarcophaga) who was on our house.
Here's a shot of a robber fly (Ommatius Tibialis) who was waiting for food. The next time I came outside, there multiple headless and abdomenless flesh flies around where it was standing .
Well, it has definitely been a long time since I've posted on this thread. However, I have a new camera with a new set of pictures. I will start with this picture of a common MA grasshopper (Trimerotropis).
My new camera is a canon z740 with a 38-380 mm. thread, f=8, 8.0" to 1/1000 shutter speed, and is 5 MP.
You cannot access my old photos because I updated my pictures and all of the links are different now.

I've got some good photos now, in an around Bury Market one afternoon. I'll try to get em up here some time.
The course is poo, it's more to do with research than anything else.
I do some photography from time to time. Got myself a Canon EOS dSLR 350D with a few lenses, have 2 4gb Microdrives for storage and a few batteries to keep me going. I can shoot a whole set in RAW and still have room left over! Spent a lot of money on that. No photos online yet, they're all still in iPhoto and aren't serious shots.
I've been meaning to get over to Hollinworth Lake. Did you see the last episode of Eleventh Hour? They shot that just over in Ripponden. or so they say. with that huge dam and all.
Wish I'd watched it now! I've stood on top of that dam, it's well good. Wish I had my camera with me then as well.
If I were you I'd get over to Saddleworth Moor, there's some great locations there.
Where is it you're from again? Is it near Oldham or Bury? I can never remember.
Dovestones reservoir is on Saddleworth Moor, sorta. the high bits are. I live in Saddleworth, just near where they filmed loads of Eleventh Hour, Brassed Off and the intro scenes to The Parole Officer. but yea. some nice places around here. hoping to get a shot of one of those wild cats up on the moors.
Great pictures, everybody. I like the sharpness of your photos, Noodle. What camera do you use?
I have posted this before, but since the link is gone, I will post it again. This is picture of a silver-spotted skipper (epargyreusclar) eating from a flower.
@Jimmi: Nice place to live that Saddleworth. I always used to drive through it going to my Gran's in Barnsley and I just used to stare out the window at the reservoirs and hills. It looked to be a mountain range at that age.
@Spork: I use an Olympus digital camera, not sure what make. Only got basic zoom functions, no special features.
just uploaded this set. a little journey from Dovestones, up to Indians Head and over the moors to Buxton (Buckstones?) Castle and back. Some beautiful shots of Uppermill and Greenfield in there. Nice sunset towards the end too.
Excellent pictures, Jimmi! I wish I lived in such a setting. I live in MA near Plymouth. It's not very pretty here. Actually, it's rather ugly. The only good places to get photos is in west MA, and in Cape Cod in the dunes. Otherwise, there isn't too much to look at here.
Here's a picture of a female gypsy moth (Lymantriadispar)
Good shots, SpaceCadet. My favorite was the shot helicopter. Here is a landscape for a change from the bugs. I took this shot exploring in the woods when I found this huge field.
Anyway, I'll upload pictures of me chickens someday. Yes, I have chickens. Lot's of em'. And if yer all really good, I'll upload a picture of my he/she chicken. It's really scary. It crows, mates with other hens, and lays eggs.

everyones a photographer I left this at the camera's native resolution. For no real reason. converted from RAW though, so it isn't 30mb
sorry for thread stealing. Just took this as a test of my Depth of Field. It's not a very fast lens. I'm trying to get my mits on an old x-ray machine so I can try and convert its f0.7 lens. hmm.
was a short shoot today. it's been snowing like mad so I went out with my camera. nothing really caught my eye so I just took some shots of the snow vanishing around my house. gotta hate murky days.
... O_o yea all £550,000 of it. with a separate detached garage the size of 2 terraced houses. and an underground cinema room and swimming pool. Paul Scholes (England and MUFC player) lives next door. he's alright. has a bigger pool than us. the sod. and he's got one of those outdoor pit-grill things. the bigger sod.
cuz his house is older he's actually in a lower tax band than us. highest taxed house in Saddleworth I'll have ye known
Jimmi, Jimmi, Jimmi- this showing off really needs to stop. It pisses me off because it’s your parents wealth, not yours, fair enough, you may inherit some of it. Your house has no style or character, its plain, grim and boring, and not too spacious by the looks of things. The garden looks nasty, over grown and like a regular land-fill site. If this thread is turning into a "woo lets show off our houses" thread, then lets at least post nice houses, not modern day pish posh, and should hope that slide isn't yours, and the Wendy house, it needs to go, degrading to say the least. Also the actual bricks selected to build you house are terrible, cold, cheap looking and the sandstone (or concrete- what ever) window surrounds don’t actually compliment the colour of the cheap bricks, making it look very bland indeed. And saying you live next to a famous footballer isn’t impressive, “famous” people have to live somewhere you know.
I didnt have a photo of the other part, its just stables so i wouldnt bore you. Mind, it is better than posting a freaking picture of your garage on here.

wow ur houses look like shit compered to my house my house is a big 1 cos my dad works at ea games and he has workd on the sims 2 and a lot of gams like tht
heh, after I took your side in those old Phizzy/Radix fights you got yourself into.
right then.
The Wendy house was a present from me for my sister. I did some design work for a design studio in Manchester. So I spent a bit of it on her. she loves it, it's fantastic for working in (insulated 'wendy' houses and wifi go hand in hand) and we're not selling the house so who's to complain? Everyone else loves it. Incidentally the slide was also my sisters present from 9 years ago when the house was built.
We used to have an old hill-top mini manor house slap bang between Greenfield and Uppermill, had an extra 2 floors, even had a ballroom. I don't know, it shitted me up as a kid. It's an old peoples home now.
My dad hasn't finished the garden yet. I don't know if you can see in any of the shots but there are bricks laying around and some cement bags. He hasn't worked on it properly for a couple of years because of a serious leg injury. And you know parents, they don't let you do out to their pride and joy.
The land itself is actually an L shaped piece, only we can't get planning permission from the council. If we can then we're to build a house there for my 21st birthday. again though. its hilly as fuck. Which is top because my parents originally wanted a coliseum style outdoor cinema.
But hey. Until I finish university I have to live off their wealth. I mean I help out in my cousins pub for a few quid every now and then. I do a bit of model work for my other cousin too.
And the football thing. heh. well I had no idea who he was at first. I was in the chippy down the road and in pops this ginger guy holding a baby. he had his hands full so I opened the door for him and he got into his car. my mate said "that was Paul Scholes!"... "who?!"... "the footballer!"... "who?!". I don't really follow football. Just moved in. Got back and he was talking to my dad about Costco. of all things.
"“famous” people have to live somewhere you know." True! but they don't live in shit places
Fuck off Jimmi you rich little bastard. Nobody wants to hear how fuckin good your house is or how much money your fuckin parents have.
Until you finish Uni you "have" to live off their wealth? Fuck off, try living like anyone else does getting a student loan and actually paying it off. Fucker.
Aha hes such a tease. You took my side? By sending me a mail saying, come to YOUR game forum, where phizzy's banned and Ill have a peaceful time...when people use your site, its like when the Queen meets the Pope for a good lick in the middle of death valley. And the wendy house- B&Q had it for £89 in their sale three months ago, its scrap wood. Seriously its time to stop with the whole showing off crap. Its a shame money couldnt buy you a better looking bitch, jizm boy. Kiss.
I have a student loan, actually! It's not bad. I only have £34 of that left to see me through to my 3rd loan. but I got a job as co-manager of my cousins pub so I'm actually working too... in a way. all I have to do is make sure the cellars full and organise events from time to time. but compared to what I'll be getting in a design studio it's pennies. sorta. but the loan is my love. my parents won't fund me. hell half the fucking loan is going towards course fees!
And Noodle. I was only responding to DigiDreams if he has such issues with my house he should have PMed me.
Got a link for the B&Q thing? Just ours was built by a local garden company. if they overcharged for something we could have gotten cheaper I'd love to know.
I made a mistake, it was last years argos. My grandad built be a tree house more magical and special than that.It had special locks on the windows and doors, BROADBAND,WORKING SINKZ,BUNKBEDZ,WIDESCREENSZ,GARAGE,HELICOPTUR LANDIN PADZ UN A DIGITUL RADIO. that was when i was 4 though.
Uploaded a load of new photos I took at Rochdale AFC's ground, Spotland Stadium. There's a classic one where a player came out and got debagged right in front of my, and I was quite lucky in that I had my hand on the clicker thingy.
Haha..that's my goal, get a place by there...but my job is in the Valley..which is about an hour drive because of LA crazy traffic...but we will see...maybe I'll get a new job there
No its true. I cant wait till the summer, I run around naked on my lawn and smother myself in fairy washing up liquid, perform an array of handstands and kartwheels, chill in the hammock and drink homemade lemonade... BRING ON BRITISH RAINY SUMMER I SUPpose....
