A Game With A Kitty
Sub Zero Conditions
Super Stun N Run
Bernard And Hank
Wandering Fighter
Dr. Doc

Blast Radius
Hypercube
Circy 3 *ahem*
Splinter Source
No one tried hard enough this year, nothing too revolutionary. I would say Stun n Run but then it looks like i haven't been paying attention. Does anyone know when 'end of the line' by beppo is gonna be done?
Klik Basestation, just because it is incredibally buggy and slow doesn't mean it's bad. But seriously, I think Arunderan deserves the GOTY, I mean 3 YEARS and 75 megabytes is pretty revolutionary if you ask me.
I know it seems a little to early, but I figured I get the question in your minds now, before some asks at the end of the year and just spouts out whatever comes to their mind first.
I'd like to recommend Diamond Revolution. I thought that the graphics and gameplay were pretty good, and the puzzles and level design were near stellar. Overall, a great game.
iPublish is indeed VERY good and shows just how powerful mmf can be if its used correctly
havent checked out iPublish 2 though
well there really wasnt much going on so I would say A Game with a Shitty
@Lewis H: Wow, that's cool. You might want to make it a little easier to figure out. I'm not sure I did the Best Community Contributer thing right. Oh well, it's a great idea.
@Evil Kitty: Yes, Arunderan is a great game. I still cannot beleive that anybody could work on a game for almost 3 YEARS and not get completely sick of it. One more thing, work ON youre spelling And capital PRoblems.
2 years ago Klik-Me had a GOTY contest in which The Spirit Engine won. There was supposed to be one last year but not enough people voted (Machines of Destruction would've won if it occurred). I'll try to do something like that for this year's games, except this time both the admins and the members can vote.
Lewis H: why is the deadline for nominating the GOTY before the year ends? Wouldn't it be better to have the deadline be January 1st, 2006 to make sure that all of the games made this year could be nominated?
Also if you'd like to help decide who deserves the Click Achievement Award (An award for all round exellence in the community and in coding etc.) please either DC Mail me or contact me via the email on the site.
At the moment games are only being nominated, at the end of this year the voting will begin (with the 6 most nominated entries from each category) and then around 7 January the results will be announced.
Maybe there should be a GOTM (Game of the Month). Hey, that sounds like Got'em. If we had a GOTM then we could just choose one of those to be the GOTY next year.
Seeing as how I've been a lazy git this whole year, I've released nothing more then a brief one-level engine test for Elf World, so I cannot vote for my own game.
But I'd go with Crystle Towers or Bernard & Hank. But I highly enjoyed Spiderhead...and I made a sprite for Neonair racing, so that makes it rule.
Fine Garbage since 2003.

In the Retro section I nominate my Defender game. Its only had 18 downloads due to broken link...fixed now. It features all the sounds and graphics of the original Williams Defender including the fast and furious game play. Try it out. Its well commented so maybe some of the features (like the scanner) could be put into your own TGF games. Its well commented. I did not think I could control so many objects in a TGF game but there it is. If you are not familiar with Defender...try it out.
Yeah, but logically for a game to be the best game of the year, it would also have to have been the best game in the week it was released. I mean, unless something's changed and years aren't made of weeks anymore.
Not that GOTW is any indication of quality anyway.
Games these days are sad. I am so motivated by all the sucky games out there that I'd finish Trap Designer's main editor, my ultimate 2D physics engine, or my Ultimate Combat Engine (C++ trial version) IF ONLY I HAD THE ****ING TIME!!!! Damn you guys, I've got so many ideas for interesting games that I can't even choose which one to work on and you people just keep releasing stupid little SNES clone games that are so outdated people who PAID for those SNES games don't even touch them anymore! What's even sadder is that there's so few decent games out there, almost no more active klik websites out there, that a TDC GOTY would probably be the most prestigious award in the Click Community.
I vote for the Kitty game.

GOTY doesnt have to win GOTW to qualify. That was only the 100th GOTW. It did a match between all 100 GOTW winners. It just happen to be that GOTY was a GOTW winner as well. Its not hard to see why it wouldnt, I mean if it won GOTW, it must have atleast half decent quality, but a great game can slip past GOTW without winning. Expecially with all of those 2-3 week game of the weeks, because of the admins being busy. Alot of good games have the ability to slip through the cracks there. So no, I dont think a game NEEDS to have won a GOTW, its just a very good chance that a GOTW will be the winner.
I would go for either a game with a kitty (because it's so brilliantly made), sub zero conditions (because its the first example of a really decent top down/isometric typed shooter game ive seen in click) or crystal towers (im not too into that type of game, but the effort that went into that game was phenomonal)

At the moment the double dragon game is winning the gotw. However people may change their opinion over time which of this weeks gotw candidates are better, say if they finish that game and suddenly become addicted to twitch dash.
They may like that better but it's too late they've already voted for DD. (i'm pretty sure most people don't always vote after playing all the gotw candidates, probably after just one or two.)
So that would make goty only being gotw games a bad idea. Also some click games aren't submitted at TDC, so will they be omitted too?
