What is a good game and what are some things that You can do to make a good one Im trying to make a good game right now and need help On what I should do
Game prevew on my site
A good game is something that is actually playable. It should have some sort of presentation and have decent graphics.... Avoid the windows button object (as it looks ugly) and don't rip sprites. Also please avoid the string object and the counter object as they are overused and both look ugly.
Basically put time and effort into your game and please don't make another platform game :\...
I think a good rule of thumb is if YOU don't play your own game, then you know that your game isn't worth submitting. A good game should never really get boring . Also for the love of god please use MS Word's spell checker and grammar checker! You need it badly.
A bit of insanity with every bite!

Thanks for the help Sorry but I allready stared and it's platfromer
There are these things called periods, they are the little dots that you end sentences with. See that one that I just put in? Oh yeah, you can also use question marks (?) and exclamation points (!) to end sentences. Maybe you should go back to Kindergarden where you learn these types of things.
Wow Keaton way to be a dick, no need to be a cockfag and correct people on little things.
Evil Kitty: Many things make a good game, and to everyone a good game could be different to what someone else thinks.
My definition of a good game, is a game thats FUN! half-decent graphics, nicely polished and just fun gameplay. Most likely your fist few games wont be considered good by the general community, but each game you make is a learning experience!
Simply picture yourself what YOU think is a good game. Picture yourself a commercial game, a good one. And then you add your own ideas, own graphics, and make it just how YOU would like a great game to be. And if you get stuck on something, search for articles, and then if you can't find any, then you ask on the code-it board for help.

Another good way to make a good game is quality assurance. This means you let a few people test your game so far and let them comment on it: what could be done better, removed, replaced, added etc.
Then you go edit your game, following those tips your testers gave you and tadaa: your game will already be better and more enjoyable!

Thanks for the help I'll try to make my project as good as posable
mabby i'll chose beta testers from out and in side GAMEMINE
deffennitly all gamemine people can test it if they want right now
but right now it's really bad 10 times worse then my other titles
buy hey it' 5%100 done
What you need:
-Original ideas: You don't want another Mario, Kirby, Sonic or anything of that sort unless you are making a clone. Just brainstorm and come up with an idea (it could even be something like a gnome made out of Ham that can shoot honey-flavoured peanuts from its armpits, it really doesn't matter)
-Decent graphics: stay away from Nuklear-ish graphics unless you want to make a Billybob-style game. I suggest you use MMF/TGF for the main graphics and photoshop (or something like it) for backdrops. DO NOT USE RIPPED GRAPHICS. You'll be torn limb-from-limb. Seriously.
-A decent engine: Do NOT use the default engine that is built in to TGF/MMF. It has so many horrible bugs that'll just screw everything up for you. Look in tutorials for some examples.
-Make the game playable and fun. This is where many companies/developers screw up: they make an awesome looking game that is so boring and stupid that the player slits there wrists with a bendy straw after four seconds of frusturating, dull gameplay. Example: EA just produced a new 'Harry Potter' game. I looked at it, and said 'WOW, THAT LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER THEN THE OTHERS!!!' But it turns out its repetitive and buggy, even though the graphics are pretty good.
So remember:
Decent graphics, fun gameplay, good engine, original ideas.
Those are the basics. Hoooyewah, grandma!
Fine Garbage since 2003.
CURRENT PROJECT:
-Paying off a massive amount of debt in college loans.
-Working in television.
From what I've gathered, everyone there is extremely biased towards their own games. Send out the game to people who aren't in the group, get an independant opinion.

I think I'll go and cry now.
