There's the klikopenGL object for TGF, but it's really limited and crap. And then there's Jamagic, I've never really tried it, but I think it involved scripting anyway, so it really won't be as easy as MMF or TGF. Or you can sit on your hands and wait for MMF2, with the irrlicht object.
I think the trouble is that 3D game creation can never be as easy as 2D almost by definition - there are whole new layers of things that need to be taken care of in a 3D environment.
The Irrlicht object isn't coming with MMF2. Development on it has stopped as far as I know, but maybe it'll be picked up again in the distant future.
Besides, even if the Irrlicht object is released there's no way you'd be able to make completely 3D games in the style of the FPS. It'll just help support 3D features.
jamagic is a close as you're going to get i think. But i couldn't figure out how to do anything. ANYTHING!
i should maybe have read a tutorial or something. But i don't really care about 3d.
If you are after making an FPS (first person shooter) game there is a program you can get called FPS Creator. this looks like it is fairly easy to use and will do all the complicated work for you. you just import or draw your maps and create your characters, weapons pickups etc. and away you go. click here for more info:
I think full 3D would be a bit much. It just gets to be too complicated, especially for a product which is supposed to be as accessible as mmf and tgf. Mode 7 effects, however, I'd like to see implemented better.
I already do code, both 2D and 3D as a matter of fact. I know Blitz3D and a little BASIC. So already I am above you. I just use MMF because it allows a more hands on experience. Sort of like 3D modelling, which is another thing you fail to beat me at.
If we had a "screw" feature like in Paint, we could basicly create all the 3D effects that Mode7 gave us, we'd just have a lot of work to do. It would be possible though.
Yeah I was thinking about that. I was really really hoping that the scaling would allow to pull in just a corner, like the perspective tool in photoshop, which is just a little more complicated than the skew tool in paint.
Theres always Blitz3D for those who want to make 3D games but dont really want to learn huge amounts of complicated code. Its pretty simple once you get the hang of what your doing. The code is as easy as "RotateEntity box,90,90,90" to rotate a box 90 degrees in all three axis. So if your really interested in 3D you should deffinetely try this out.
"Actually sir, we found a tiny unicorn in your exhaust. It was jumping around poking holes in your gas tank." "Oh thank you I did not know that. A tiny unicorn? Wow."
DarkBasic Pro or Blitz3D LIKE THAT CHAP STATED IN THE POST ABOVE MINE!
By a route obscure and lonely,
Haunted by ill angels only,
Where an Eidolon, named night,
On a black throne reigns upright,
I have reached these lands but newly
From an ultimate dim Thule
From a wild clime that lieth, sublime,
Out of space
Out of time.
DaVince This fool just HAD to have a custom rating

@BrandonC: Yeah, a screw feature does sound pretty kinky. As for this topic, I'm not sure MMF will ever become 3d

I know HBK's creations aren't great, but brandonc, you need to take a step back and look at your own stuff. Most of it sucks. The only half way decent game I've played of yours was diamond, but it was the exact same thing as previous versions. So get off your high horse and shut the fuck up.
I'm not trying to start a flame war, and I'm not saying I'm better than you, I just can't stand you and think you are an annoying little brat that thinks you're better than everyone.
Davince, I agree arcanetale looks nice. But what I'm saying is that it pisses me off when people are cocky in the first place, but then he goes off and says all this stuff about "you don't even compare to me". Which, in my opinion, is total shit. (excuse the language please) None of brandon's games are great, or even noteworthy. HBK is probably like 12 or something, and brandon is talking down to him. Wow, way to go jackass, you're better than someone way younger than you. Anyway. I apologize to everyone who had to read all this from me. I just can't f'ing stand him.
I don't sudgest it much to those liking to be original, and love extensions, and being able to do a lot.
Its a very limited 3d game creator allows importing 3d models, level design weapon selecting, various game types, but other then that it lacks a lot of basic things.
Examples:
a. You can see bullets move its so slow
b. they have never heard of cross hairs
c. its quite cumbersome
I remember when that came out, it was a huge deal, then it sucked. FPS Creator seems like a bit more worthwhile, but still is pretty subpar when compared to current games.
