I thought it was very well done. I myself am teaching myself 3D animation in my spare time, and its great to see what other people are doing, before they go pro. Looks very nice, the end reaction gave me a laugh, perhaps because of he monkey's expression. I wont spoil anything though.
You seem to be oddly enough, very confident in throwing bad comments to something a lot better then you could make. It's almost like you're expecting professional quality, Bibin. Perhaps we should do the same for just about everything you release in the future? Cause I can assure you that the results of that deal wont be to pretty.
PS: Personally, it beats animation you find in say the show Jimmy Neutron if you ask me. Aside from the fact that it looks very low poly however, and though re-rendered, looks more real time.
its made with maya 6.0 and i used combustion to make the particle effects, and photoshop for the little blue fruit
I used the feature "Final gather" in "mental ray" for the rendering , it gives more depth and atmosphere to the environment.
and yes its low poly i know , and my monkey may be ugly for some, but i can explain : my monkey used to wear some fur, but because of some technical and time problems, i had to remove it.
I'd wait for MMF2 to do that, because without anti-aliasing, games with 3D sprites seem to turn out badly. As nice as LoF might have looked, it looked like shit compaired to what it COULD have looked like, if it had anti-aliasing. Same with a bunch of other 2D games made in TGF/MMF, using pre-rendered graphics.
Well, since I am a 3D animator professionaly, I suppose I could give my advice to you. Everything is done pretty well and you got talents. Is this your first animation? My suggestions would be, work on the character animation a bit, it needs to be a little smoother, and some shots take a little longer than they should. But other than that it looks great. The character does need some tweeking, but it is definetly a great start! What software did you use to make this on?
i know all the problems i had the thing is that i had a deadline. It was a project for school and i even slept in the class to be able to finish it in time. lol
but thanks for your comments anyway.
I used maya7.0 and some other softwares like Combustion and photoshopcs2
Oh, and another thing...if that's what you want to do for a living, sleeping in class is nothing compared to when you are out of school. For example, it's been 2 months since I had 1 single day off...I've been working monday through monday, and I am about to shoot myself lol
Excellent, liked the vibe that it had, great graphics and the folks are right that the monkey needs some more facial experessions and more smoother animations other then that great work, and it made me laugh in the end to, keep it up.
