The Rules.
1. Maximum of 5 megs file size, must be ZIPPED (Not RAR'ed)
2. Must include source code, in addition to a compiled version. Any entry lacking either will be disqualified.
3. The game MUST use the Default Platform movement for the player character. Fixing the engine is allowed, but custom Platform movement is prohibited.
4. The game must contain more than 5 levels, and have a playtime of over 15 minutes (average).
5. Graphics must be original.

The Theme
In sticking with the theme of where I pirated the the news post picture from (24), and sticking with traditional gaming cliche's; the enemy must be terrorists, and their plot moust involve something called "Device X" (what this actually is is up to you). Taliban, Green Peace, etc...it doesn't matter, but they MUST be terrorists; HUMAN terrorists. Obviously, as I'm telling you you have to use the standard platform engine, the game needs to be a platformer. It can be mario-ish, contra-ish; it doesn't matter, as long as it's a platformer.

Hm. I don't like the theme for this compo.
Damn, I've been waiting till this starts and then it's a terrorist blah thingy. Will still try something maybe.
The rules don't mean you can't have tanks and such. I just didn't want to get entries where aliens were the enemies or anything. If you want to go cutesy Mario style, then do it. Want to run and gun like contra, then do it. The style of the game is totally up to you. Just cause it's terrorists doesn't mean anything, it's no different from aliens in contra or goomba's in Mario. They're just enemies.
Now, err, does it count as default if we use the default engine for the gravity, but set the speed of the player to 0, and have left and right sensors around the character for left and right movement? Hold on, here's what I mean.

Ok guyz , anybody stupid enough to do this then just add to the story that Device X is a nuclear missle and The Chain Gain is planning to cripple US's economy by launching it on bush's ass , or the US itself. Your one and only one level mission is to deactivate the missle which will be launched in 15 minutes.

I hold a strong opinon about my graphics; they come not from lack of motivation, but from nessessity. I feel that if the graphics were entirely handmade, it would lose its sense of relation to the topic the game covers. There are no "Megaman" or "Sonic" sprites, as I beleive rule five was meant to cover, but I admit that I have used "premade" images.
One could argue that these images were already part of MMF, and therefore, just another tool available to create the game. I shall not.
The rule says "Graphics must be original.", and I feel I have used these images in a unique, original way. But I will leave the judging to the judges.

I started with a game but forgot the part about the terrorists so whatever haven't got time to implent that now. Good luck to the rest of the contestants.
aha I forgot the terrorist too, but I managed to get it in in time. And Adam, just because I'm in S.U.M.G.O.O doesn't mean I'm inexperienced or anything. I started with Klik & Play for the mac all the way till today with MMF. I'm not sure if that's what you meant by your comment though.
So close, I'm on the last level. I'm pretty confident that if my game isn't breaking any rules, It'll win. Though it's hard to predict here who will like your game. I even have a nice little tranquil hedge maze, with a slow harmonic tune to go with it. Ugh, the last level is going to be hard because its a boss.
the terrorist part had really affect the amount of people entering.
you see i could have churned out a half decent game in 24 hours, but having to include terrorists put me off somewhat and now the thing is probably almost over.
Well, I wasn't able to comple all the five levels - I only started working this morning. And than - because of the downtime - I kind of Gave up. But hell - here's my thingie:
