Right, this to have a go at those involved with cheating for their GoTW and a moan in general with it.
It seems that there exists people sad enough to cheat GoTW (quote that if you will - "SAD"). On TWO occasions THIS MONTH there has been suggested cheating occurances.
Game of the week is about the 'klik' public and their approval, respect and enjoyment of the games on the poll - they vote for the game that they feel is the best, compared to the other games submitted that week - simple right?
Some AMAZING games have fallen into second or third place before, why? It all depends on:
(in order of importance)
- the competitors for the week
- the fan base
- (and often favouritism)
This DOESN'T mean that your game isn't good, by any stretch of the imagination.
GoTW isn't everything - its just a simple award (no offense to TDC), but put things into perspective here. Reputation and respect is on the line when you cheat - someone is always watching! Don't think just a few votes will go unnoticed. You don't NEED to cheat your way to GoTW, for that merely proves that you need to grow up and think about what the words arrogant, sad, pathetic, obsessive, narrow-minded and even selfish mean to you.
If you do win GoTW without cheating, then well done - you didn't have to pretend (to yourself and the public) that your game was better than the other's that week.

More steps in order to PREVENT this being possible should really be considered.
It's not hard to implement an IP log that denies IP ADDRESSES from voting more than once. TDC works on the basis as a vote for each user, even though they log ip addresses. I'm sure that after a few tweaks in the code here and there the poll would be virtually cheat-free.
PHP can do the job - no problem. Proxies couldn't touch it, and nor could people creating so many accounts. Unless they had multiple ISP's and computers lying around.
I'm not going in to getting your friends and such to vote for you. If they like it they'll vote for it I guess.

But for now, you must meet two simple objectives before you deserve GoTW:
- To create amazing high quality games that DESERVE to win GoTW for the effort put in, compared to the other games that week.
- Not to cheat and take advantage of this site and the klik community.

Well that's my moan over with..!
Thanks for reading guys
Idea: Don't allow accounts younger than 1 month to vote. That way a GoTW nominee can't suddenly register 10 accounts to vote for himself. He could still hoard accounts, but I kind of doubt people would pre-register accounts just to vote for themselves if they get on GoTW.
- Ok, you must admit that was the most creative cussing this site have ever seen -
If "Pingi" somehow beats "Mind's Eye" or "Dance 'Til You Drop", I will definately suspect GOTW cheating...
p.s. That's not to say Pingi is bad... It's just that the other 2 mentioned are much better quality, In ones opinionation.
By a route obscure and lonely,
Haunted by ill angels only,
Where an Eidolon, named night,
On a black throne reigns upright,
I have reached these lands but newly
From an ultimate dim Thule
From a wild clime that lieth, sublime,
Out of space
Out of time.
I believe a system is current being coded so that only one account with the same IP address can vote for GOTW. Otherwise, we will definately be checking more often.
