Dont know if you all know this but i work for GAME and there has been a rumour batted about at the latest managers conference about 20 years of Retro Gaming on the Wii. It is said that the folowing consoles games will be available for download on the Wii:
Sega:-
Master System
Mega Drive/Genesis
Game Gear
Dreamcast - (not 100% sure about this one.)
Nintendo:-
Gameboy
Gameboy Color
Gameboy Advance
NES
SNES
N64
Gamecube
If this is the case then this console wil outsell its competitors by the bucket load. This will be the one to own come chritmas this year.
No Game Gear or anything like that. Master System, Mega Drive, MSX, all Nintendos machines. Plus Turbo GFX or something like that. The list will expand.
Wow.. at $5, $10, the Wii could really hurt piracy here. Piracy's at worst at $0.6 per CD, one free cd for 3 CDs, $3 for a DVD game on average. And the Wii itself is damn cheap for something made in Japan.
Music piracy (at least for cassettes) has pretty much been wiped out ever since there was a law that limited the maximum price.
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
I hope they have the Genesis port of Might and Magic 2, that is an awesome game. There was another one, I forget what it was, but you had to sail around the world and hunt down criminals with knights and wizards and etc. King's Bounty maybe? All I remember was the first criminal was a bald dude called "Murray the Miser".
The Master System eh? Time to track down Teddy Boy and try to waste that infernal game! And if GBA games will be available, I want to get another Advance Wars 2, since my first one was stolen out of my car. That game is TOO FUN.
Yeah, if I get any next-gen console, it'll be the Wii for certain. I think big N is going to KILL the competition, but who knows what'll happen when the time arrives?

"To be a true ninja you must first pick the most stealthy of our assorted combat suits. Might I suggest the bright neon orange?"
DXF Games, coming next: Hasslevania 2- This Space for Rent!
Yeah, thats kings bounty. I own that for the Megadrive and it's awesome.
The only problem with it, is that the saves are password only, and they take AGES to type in.

Unlikely. $5-8 is still pretty steep for games we've been playing for free on emulators for years. N64 games should do well because the emulation isn't as mainstream, but I'm confident someone will break the encryption on the VC and take that element away too. They'd be better off dropping it to something like $1 for NES, $2.50 for SNES and $5 for N64 at most. The lower cost would probably be made up for with a higher volume that way.
