Actually I like the wii itself, it's a good console and it's worth the money and everything, but I hate all the commercials and the people that cheer for wii.
I accept that some can like the wii better than the ps3, that's completely acceptable. But saying that the ps3 SUCKS is stupid.
The only problem i see with the ps3 is the price, other than that you may be trying too hard to make the ps3 look bad. I've seen wii fans mock the ps3 because it 'looks like it's too heavy', and that when you touch it, the fingerprints show on the surface.. so it's not really that shinny.
The wii controler is nice, i actually like it. But some of the commercials just treat me like i'm dumb, and try to 'fool me' into thinking i'm going to be extremly cool with it and i'm going to play it like there's really good background music all the time. Chances are i'm going to have fun with the wii, but i'm not going to play it like i just smoked some esctacy...
So long story short, "wii" tries too hard to be cool, like the little kid who smokes to be cool, there's nothing wrong with the kid itself, he's just retarded.
The games that have re-used and recycled gameplay.
The controller that hasn't had a face lift since 1996/7.
The online system that tries too hard to imitate Xbox Live.
The way the controller has no vibrate features.
The way the controller has to be connected via USB to sync the wireless to the console.
Games have to be installed (I hear?)
The way Sony banged on about how powerful it was, yet in reality it is no more powerful than the Xbox 360.
Size (couldn't care about weight, I do care about fitting it in).
Looks. Sony's desperate attempts to copy Bang & Olsen are getting more painful to look at.
They didn't include HDMI cables in the box.
Systems price.
Crossbar menu looks lacklustre for a console.
Games at £50 *looks at 360 too*.
Poor imitation of the Wii controller functionality.
No PS1/2 memory card slots built in.
hold on... you said the Wii is a bad console because-
"...I hate all the commercials and the people that cheer for wii."
So do you hate the people playing it or the commercials? Because hey, welcome to adverts. Sony published some risqué adverts in some part of Europe, apparently racist ones. They almost had to remove some adverts from England too, talking about displaying porn on the PSP. which, incidentally absolutely ripped off the typeface and overall design of Selfridge's in-store adverts. The Wii is advertising itself to non-gamers just as the DS did. Because that is a new market the system hopes to reach.
funnier still when you start off with
"Actually I like the wii itself..."
I don't have to try hard to make the PS3 look bad. You just need to look at the reviews of the games yourself. The PS3 doesn't actually suck. It reaches its main purpose - to run games. Pity the ones out aren't really that good. http://www.metacritic.com/games/ps3/scores/ magic! how many of them are already out on the 360 and have RUMBLE? hmm.
I think the tittle hurted your feelings a bit, but it was just to get your attention, i dont think the wii is a bad console. It's not like i got confused and accidentaly said i like the wii in a really bad attempt to prove it's bad.
I wont argue some of the things you said about the ps3, though, i gotta give you that, otherwise your head is going to explode with anger . I dont like any of the games listed on that review page you posted either, i hate FPS games on playstation controllers. Although the ps3 have other games, and it will get more in time.
If the Playstation 3 was only $300 all together, full package, and Sony shipped more, it would easily outsell any console. The price is the only reason people are bitching about it.
-I don't like serious games, and playstation games tend to be more serious/adult. If I want fun, I will happily revert back to my imature side and play kiddy games (lol "revert back", I revert back alot )
The price is the main issue because its not like its even special. If the WII was that price Id happily pay that much for it, because its something different.
Ps3 - too expensive, I don't trust it to not break.
X360 - slightly too expensive, most of the bugs have been worked out
Wii - Slightly over priced for what it is, Nintendo manufactures very durable consoles.
--------------
That said, I own a Wii and have been having some fun with it (I got Red Steel and Zelda). Red Steel is pretty jittery; but the whole game has a slightly rushed feel (It WAS a launch game after all). Playing FPS's with the Wii controller IS fun; though I wish the devs would give us more control over the "Bounding box" and turn speed. The crosshair likes to wig out a bit too (Before you even say it; no, it's not because of the sunlight, it's cause Red Steel is a bit buggy). Turning is annoying cause it's so slow. (I'm a Timesplitters Junkie after all).
Overall, I'm happy with my purchase; granted that cause I can play my GC games again as well (Robotech and Tales, how I missed you so!) with that slick classic controller (Slick except that the remote is clipped to the bottom of it).

I went to the store at 4:30am this morning to get some after Thanksgiving sales and 9 different stores had sold out of the Wii (PS3 too (surprise)). I was pissed cause I was gonna play it today. I bought a 250GB harddrive for 40$ though, along with some other crap at 90% off.
"Isn't it always amazing how we characterize a person's intelligence by how closely their thinking matches ours?"

I got my Wii a week ago at sears, 3 systems there...
But what do you mean by the wii being overpriced? Nintendo has a very low profit margin on manufacturing / selling wiis, much lower then a regular product from a regular company. Sure microsoft and sony are taking losses, but what would be the point for nintendo if it drove the price below a Gamecube? Coupled with all the shortcomings of PS3 at the launch, it looks like nintendo and microsoft are hoping to crash sony early, and keep them down. And boy, is it working.
The staff at mine brought out free hot chocolate and donuts for everyone waiting in line at 7 AM. Meanwhile walmart just kinda told everyone to fuck themselves.
I mean I think it should be $200. The controllers are freaking expensive enough. I think $250 was a bit too much; but I'm betting the price will drop by next summer. But like I said, I already got mine.
Meh, I'm not Ps3 at all, so I haven't checked out the prices on their controllers; but I expected them to be high. I finally just bought myself another Ps2 the other day (and a $12 USB to PS2 Controller adapter that works beautifully).
That said, I still think the controllers are too expensive for the wii. For $250 they should have included a second one with the system. Then I wouldn't have minded the price tag so much.
Yes the PS3 controller is similar in design to the PS2 one, but I'm guessing that is probably because it is what people are more confortable with. Whereas Microsoft changed their controller because a few people complained about the old Xbox controller being too big and stuff - the 360 controller is certainly improved on that.
The PS3 controller has actual trigger buttons at the back now, which apparently feel better and obviously there is the motion thingy. Regarding its large size, the console is apparently not too heavy neither - and it's only about 2 controllers in width which isn't too big.
The Wii is small and compact, looks quite clean and stylish in my opinion - but it's just the content that doesn't attract me. I like the idea of the controller, but I really cannot see myself using it because I'd probably just start laughing at myself or be too embarassed to use the controller in front of my family.
@Jimmi
The games that have re-used and recycled gameplay.
Doesn't the Wii and 360 too? Need to expand on this comment really.
The controller that hasn't had a face lift since 1996/7.
Does that make it a worse console?
The online system that tries too hard to imitate Xbox Live.
How exactly? As far as I am aware they are quite different
The way the controller has no vibrate features.
Again, the motion sensing stuff kind of compensates for that. I don't think having vibration makes it a worse console - although yes it is a shame it is missing.
The way the controller has to be connected via USB to sync the wireless to the console.
First I've heard of that.
Games have to be installed (I hear?)
No they don't - they work the same way as they do on the PSP
The way Sony banged on about how powerful it was, yet in reality it is no more powerful than the Xbox 360.
System wise, it has more powerful hardware. It is obviously a matter of opinion on whether you think it's more powerful than the 360. Sony never actually said that it is more powerful than the 360.
Size (couldn't care about weight, I do care about fitting it in).
It's only a bit bigger than the 360
Looks. Sony's desperate attempts to copy Bang & Olsen are getting more painful to look at.
It's a way to attract customers - it's what businesses do
They didn't include HDMI cables in the box.
Would just increase the price - and they would be pointless for those who don't need them. Not sure how much these cables cost though
Systems price.
You get what you pay for - even the 360 is expensive for what it is
Crossbar menu looks lacklustre for a console.
Matter of opinion - I quite like it and find it easy to use
Games at £50 *looks at 360 too*.
I agree with this point
Poor imitation of the Wii controller functionality.
They apparently planned this functionality before the Wii was announced - which was why the old PS3 controller was boomerang/pilot control shaped (to imitate motion - nobody liked the shape of it though).
No PS1/2 memory card slots built in.
You can get an adapter quite cheaply - so only people who want to play PS1/2 games will actually need it. Putting the slots in would probably just make the console much larger/expensive
Live (UK magazine) and various online reviewers have criticised many of the PS3's launch titles as using tired gameplay. These people aren't saying the same about the Wii (likely controller changes that, makes games more involving perhaps?). Also the port thing is a bit rubbish, funny how Ridge Racer on the PS3 looks worse and has background objects missing compared to the 360 version.
It's funny hearing that if Sony had enough consoles they would sell more than anyone else. Are you that naive about the PS3's launch titles? They are shit. Sony pissed up the launch with retardedly low stock figures, shoddy launch games, no European launch till when now? Even March hasn't been officially confirmed. I mean over the pond in England we're hearing nothing of the PS3 launch except that there was gunfire, the press (including News Night and Working Lunch) here are going on about how good and intuitive the Wii is. There are no games worth getting. Whereas the Wii has launched with the highest rated game this generation, already flattening the 360's highest scorer (tied GoW and Oblivion).
Wii's are selling out because Zelda is a god of a game, the best (highest scoring should I say) launch title a system has ever seen.
Oh and PLEASE. £450 for a games console with composite cables? Even Microsoft managed component. Even NINTENDO managed to get a Gamecube memory port on the side of the Wii. How come Sony can't? Oh that's right, you're not paying enough for the console first time round!
If you like the PS3 then good. But please, Sony is having a shit time right now and the PS3 has no decent games yet. I mean god knows I won't be going back to a console without rumble, I'll take a 360 once it gets an absolute killer title (Halo 3?).
So much for the quick reply but as Pixelthief said - for that price it would need to be noticeably better than the 360. I'm not getting what I paid for, I would like to pay for a system with more bang for buck, double the 360's power please.
Size issue? It's bigger than the first Xbox which I had great trouble to get to look pretty on my desk. I stick my current gen systems in an unventilated cupboard. Doing that with either a 360 or PS3 would just be stupid.
Sony never said it was more powerful than the 360?
"PS3 is a Supercomputer"?
They even had the balls to say -
"HD era starts when we say it does"
"Is just an Xbox 1.5 and stated that it was only going after PlayStation 2."
"Beating us for a short moment is like accidentally winning a point from a Karate master, and Microsoft is still not black belt." - in reference to Xbox Live

I must have missed the commercials bashing the PS3. I must have missed Nintendo even acknowledging the existence of the PS3. They're not Sega with their NintenDON'T campaigns.

Wii sports blows chunks.
I own it, I've played it, the ONLY thing on it worth using is bowling (which is, actually quite fun). Everything else on it blows chunks.
#2-
PS3 = Xbox360 in terms of graphics/power.
Sorry, its true. PS3 can run some things like polygon counts xbox360 could NEVER manage, but hey, PS3 doesn't have enough ram to run a UT4.0 game like gears of war. Frankly, the two systems are evenly matched in terms of computing power.
"I must have missed the commercials bashing the PS3. I must have missed Nintendo even acknowledging the existence of the PS3. They're not Sega with their NintenDON'T campaigns."
Not this generation however with the nintendo 64, Nintendo put adverts up saying how slow the psx was calling it a "32 bit cd machine"
and told people to wait for the super fast silicons gameplay of the 'ultra64' which is what it was still known as at the time.
Ive lost complete interest in consoles now, I own nearly every mainstream console up to the last gen and i just got a psp (which is a fine peice of kit i have to say) but the next gen...... its just a load of overpriced junk, Why go out and pay 100,s of pounds for a console when all they release now is sequals and remakes? the wii is the only thing that has tried anything new and still i cant see the point in it, The bottom line is that these new consoles are trying to mimic the powers of the pc and the online gameing world that nearly all pc gamers have been experiencing for the last 5 years and are still failing.
If a new game comes out for the pc and i want it, ill buy it. if 2 years down the line a new mmorpg comes out i can just pop out and buy a better gfx card etc and experience top end graphics that will continue to progress with time. But if i bought a ps3 or xbox360 ill be stuck playing the same old EA shite and other poor titles that will then be graphicly and intuitevly out of date.
The point im trying to make is the next gen wants to be a pc but fails. Why would i want to pay an online subscription to play a console game when i can play it for free and with better gfx, faster and all round better to play on my pc? (and before anyone says anything i know top end gaming pc's are expensive but so is the ps3, and in comparison the pc is a better value for money and will give better performance every time!)

Wii Sports is cool, fool. The PS3 is actually capable of a lot more than the 360, but parallel processing is a bitch bitch bitch to use fully. Finally, Sony is losing like 200 dollars per console so they probably could've gotten away with charging 800.

The PS3 edge in performance is offset by the ease of developing for the 360.
- Ok, you must admit that was the most creative cussing this site have ever seen -
You keep saying the 360 is easy to develop for. Anything to back that up with? Or are you just thinking of XNA?
I found this interesting -
"The cheaper price may mask fatter profits for developers. Consumers buy Wii titles for 17 percent less than next-generation console games, but publishers say development costs for Wii are only half as much -- or less. THQ Inc. Chief Executive Brian Farrell said that investment in a next-generation video game can run roughly $12 million to $20 million, while a title for the Wii could be in the $5 million to $8 million range."
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/media_wii_games_dc
Really makes you think where all these upcoming game studios are going to go, doesn't it.
I talk to two devs regularly, and I can say the following. The PS3 is an absolute bitch to program for, I'd post the massive string of explicitives he used to elaborate on this; but you get the idea. The Wii is easy as pie, considering it's essentially just updated GC dev software, which he has been using for the last 4 years, and it was easy to begin with(Plus you can teach the remote basic things [advanced stuff still requires tweaking]). He's also completely in love with all the middleware packages that come with the Wii (specifically Havok).
Neither of them have even come close to an X360 dev kit though.
Never said I was in the "biz"; I just talk to a few people who are (Mostly Jaleco refugees from when the Jaleco offices here in Boulder closed [Goblin Commander])
And I have no clue what the hell you are going on about.
yeah, ps3 isn't for sissies, if you are going to get a ps3 you gotta be able to dodge bullets in bullet time, it can get dangerous for some rookies
Although, it was acutally a couple of robbers, that wanted to rob the ppl waiting in line, i mean, if they rob 8 or 9 people, 600 bux each.. that's like 20 grand altogether, makes sense.
I don't see the point in rushing to get a PS3 right away. The price will eventually drop, there's no must-have titles out yet exclusively for it, and everything Sony's put out (except for the PSP, IMO a solid, powerful machine for what it is) had had problems as far as disc read errors. I'm not saying the PS3 is a bad console - it undoubtedly has incredible processing power and such. I plan on getting one, just once they're priced a bit more reasonably.
I'm not a Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft fanboy. The only console I don't plan on getting is the X-Box 360, because I got the X-Box, and at my house, all it did was act as a DVD player. I don't like the fact that there are no real cheat devices for it (just the infinitely retarded GameBreaker that's nothing but "PowerSaves"). That said, it has some great features etc., but there just aren't enough exclusives for it. Now, this "Dead Rising" game and "Gears of War" are obvious exceptions, but everything else eventually gets ported to PC or PS2/3 (or was a port of that system to begin with).
I do find that the motion control in the Wii can be a bit of an arse. "Red Steel" is a great example of this - you move the cursor on the screen to try to target baddies, and it moves so slowly until you reach within a certain distance of the edge of the screen, at which point you start spinning around uncontrollably while getting hit repeatedly.
So, each of the consoles has its strengths and weaknesses, and all are powerful machines that will undoubtedly have interesting new games.
But the original post in this topic about the Wii adverts is absurd. Look at the PS3 adverts: they show the thing floating up into mid-air and causing eggs to burst into ravens. Making baby dolls cry. Causing a Rubik's Cube to event horizon. And then you mock the Wii ads for showing people having a great time? You're just being a silly fanboy.
If wishes were fishes then we'd all smell like ladies' underwear.
PSP a solid machine? I suppose you're unaware of the massive dead-pixel issue or the faulty UMD drives, which incidentally match the catastrophic failure UMD has been. Oh and don't forget the breaking analogue nubs.
It's powerful and that, I had one for a short while (figured a 300gb HDD, a DS Lite and an extra 2 years of web hosting were more worthwhile). But like the PS3 it's priced way outside of its competitors. There's a reason why a weaker, cheaper system is outselling it 4:1. I'll probably pick one up as soon as Sony realise it would be a smart idea to have PS1 downloads away from the PS3 to play on the PSP. too many P's!
"I do find that the motion control in the Wii can be a bit of an arse. That's a problem with Red Steel, NOT the wii. Rayman is perfectly configured, so it Trauma Center. Red Steel just got rushed out to make the launch window.
This is a ridiculous conversation. Wii isn't even competing with the PS3, it's not in the same market. Most of you treat it like it is though. You all say you aren't fanboys but you are; do you really think Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo cares which one you pick? They all play off of each other to boost sales, they are all very rich and you are all argueing for nothing. A better thing to argue about is the developing companies, they are the ones that get fucked around and lose money.
thinking is like pong, it's easy, but you miss sometimes.
I love that, "wii tries too hard to be cool". I think an expert marketing department and boomiing sales figures argue and tell us that, in fact, the Wii is 'cool' regardless of one person's opinion. If anything, it's that same sort of trying to be cool marketing, utilised by sony when they first marketted the Playstation, that nintendo fanboys were complaining about when nintendo was behind.
Liquixcat is right though, it's a perfectly choreographed corporate squaredance, you just have to sit back and look at it with cynical eyes.
not if you configured it properly. I had a VB for years and it never once gave me a headache. I had one of those headsets that you could hook up to a computer, tv, or whatever. That thing DID give me headaches, mostly because it was ungodly bright.
I think it's a great console, but it's not worth this price. This isn't a matter of opinion - I'm talking about the margin between what it costs to make and what Nintendo are selling it for; it's considerably greater than it was for the Gamecube.
Don't. He will probably find a way to gain access to your pc and then spread millions of micro viruses into your operative system so he could get all your private info like bank access code and the color of your pants.
anyway,
@Wii Sports has some issues too. The punching in Boxing is especially dodgy.
Eh, that's because Boxing doesn't follow the wiimote completely; it checks to see if you moved your right hand, then it does the entire punch. Like, moving your right hand/controller thing activates the "punching" animation, to make it MMF-esque style. After that, nothing you do matters until the animation is done.
The Wii is extremely cheap for its power. Though so many things in this country are also extremely cheap for their power, just bought a GeForce 7600GS for only $115.
The Wii's games are a bit too simple for my tastes. Personally I'm more of a RPG, Total War player, though I enjoy any game with a good control system, like FIFA07, Virtua Fighter. So, I'll probably never get any console, instead I'll just stick with buying a PS-clone controller and sticking it in a USB port.
The PS3 is damn good. The XBox 360 is damn good. The Wii is also damn good by today's standards. But unfortunately, almost none of these consoles have any game that's 'damn good', or at least something you can stick to playing for a month, aside from sports sims. But a low-end PC can play those, and if you can read this, chances are good that all you need is just a bit of hardware to play those games.
The PS3 *is* ugly. They crammed a lot of hardware in it, then tried to make it sleek. Not good, but then again, my computer has its face melted off so it's uglier .
Microsoft and Sony are infamous for their profit-based focus, unlike Nintendo which is infamous for focusing on quality and being the underdog. So whatever happens, Sony/MS will be hiding the flaws in their consoles, while Nintendo will be way overhyped just for being the underdog.
Whatever it is... in 4 years, my PC will pwn all of your consoles .
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
You should probably look at the DS. Or the GBA that sold more than the PS2. You combine all Nintendo's systems sold from the PS1 launch onwards and you have no underdog. I never understood how they can be called that. If you're counting consoles then yes, the Cube sold marginally less than the Xbox despite the Xbox being the most powerful system, had online play and was advertised to high heaven. But they also have the GBA and DS. Should look at how much closer the DS is to world domination.
Muz, that's awfully nice that your PC will "pwn" my console. But I'll be sat back in on a lovely sofa playing something that has no spec requirements I need to worry about and run on cheaper hardware on a savvy 42" TV.
*I play PC games but have seemingly magical powers that lets me see both with equal merits.
It's estimated that there were between 250,000 - 275,000 PS3's avaliable for Launch (US).
Since it's launch, the Wii has sold over 1/6 of what the X360 has since it launched; and Nintendo has upped it's March 31st, 2007 estimate (I believe it's the beginning/end of the fiscal year) to 6 Million Wii's sold by that time.
DS sales haven't taken any sort of hit since the Wii launch (There was speculation that the Wii would cut into the DS sales, but they have remained "normal" to slightly above "normal" (I quote normal because the DS sales really aren't normal, and never have been; it's routinely been selling an almost shocking amount of units since launch; nothing like normal portable sales.))
I haven't come across any launch numbers yet besides Nintendo's official "One Million" statement; but I'm guessing it was actually around 600,00-750,000. Any links would be helpful
Hey, the DS is good. Lots of great games on it, plus the nice control system. I'd buy one if I had unlimited money as it's the only portable with better games than my cellphone has.
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
Ouch... PS3 gfx are as bad, if not worse than the graphics on my PC. Guess you can't beat the guys who invented DirectX. Better framerates AND graphics with the 360? Which is bad as I'm using a $110 graphics card I bought 2 days ago. Well... there goes the PS3's fan base. With a company as evil as Sony, nothing can save the PS3. At least Microsoft is ok, they give to charity unlike Sony which sues little companies.
So, sorry, dogzer... in terms of speed, price, graphics, no vibration, the PS3 sucks. Bad. It's just the Wii vs X360, I guess. And PC.. but judging from the screenies here, I'd say the PC will pwn in 2 years instead of 4. Video cards support TV outs, you know, and PS2 controller-USB adapters already exist..
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
Eh, the gamecube architecture was vastly superior to the ps2 and xbox. The ps3 is as surely faster then the wii as the wii is as surely faster then the ps2... Argh confusing
i played it today. it is fun-yes ( i am not surprised) but currently the graphics REALLY suck but who cares about grapbics? once yu are playing you won't mind too much the graphics are shit but it was always kind of bothering me. i am very sure the wii can do way better graphics. it just takes time. the detection could also be way better. but overall the idea behind the wii is just great.
@i played it today. it is fun-yes ( i am not surprised) but currently the graphics REALLY suck but who cares about grapbics?
God-nonexistant-dammit, the system doesn't have shit graphics, the game does. The Nintendo developers just spent more time on gameplay and ho fun it is than how pretty it looks.
The comparison is that they DO look exactly the same, except you are paying twice as much for the PS3, since its graphics are supposedly twice as good.
i like power because it has posibility of games with bigger maps, and more enemies fighting at the same time, like in the ps2, it can handle over 8 trillion operations per milliseconds, while the wii can only handdly 20 thousand, can you believe that?

Are you talking about the PS3? Because the PS2 was the shittiest hardware that ever shat shit.
"The comparison is that they DO look exactly the same, except you are paying twice as much for the PS3, since its graphics are supposedly twice as good."
However those games are ports so why would they look much different?
It's no refelction on the abilities of the two consoles, only the apparent laziness of the developers.
the wii controller got old fast, have you heard the news on the videogame news site? no one enjoys the wii controllers anymore. Reports say 75% of wii owners have either broke their wii already, or sold it to buy a ps3
Give up, nobody like the ps3 cuz it's expensive, everybody likes the wii cuz it's cheaper, whcih means more people can have it. Sony is fighting a lost battle.
Some of my friends went to Stockholm last wednesday and stood in line for 30(!!) hours. They had to stand with some pretty weird shit in that line, drunk people, flashers and just plain stupid people. They started to count how many people asked them why they were standing in line. They lost count pretty damn fast, but they think it was about 200 or so. IN the end they got Wii's, and we got to try them =
Wii Golf is actually really fun. Can't wait until Mario Golf makes it to Wii. I won't be getting my own until january >,<
reports say all the kids who post in forums that nobody likes the ps3 cuz it's expensive are ashamed to admit they actualy wanted a ps3, but their parents wouldnt get them one, and they cried. I read it.
If you look at the graphics for Fight Night and that other new game by Tony Hawk, the difference in graphical quality is very noticable and the resolution hardly matters since res was never a matter when comparing consoles before this .
But hey, if games are what makes the console best, then the PC's only competition is still the Wii and vice versa. For all I care, PCs are still the best, as you can't play Heroes of Might & Magic or Medieval: Total War or Neverwinter Nights 2 on a console .
Personally, I don't think gaming consoles will ever catch up to anyone's real expectations. I mean, thanks to movies like Shrek, Incredibles, and Happy Feet, I expect my games to look that good, but they're still blocks. Nice water, nice bloom effects, very nice jiggle dynamics but still blocks with textures. Nothing near to what movies have done, except for Warcraft III.
I'd like it if the artists & programmers focused more on making the animations realistic rather than all that focus on shadows.

@Dogzer: i've heard the wii actually uses same cpu as n64, making it slower than a playstation 1
I've heard that your spelling and grammar are that of a three year old. I've also heard that you are making up info. It uses a much-enhanced CPU of the gamecube, with much more.
The console may have a slower CPU, but more capabilities. Again, it doesn't literaly mean that your game will be slower. For example, many games ported to slower systems from a slightly faster system (a la arcade to NES), the NES version was just as fast and good.
PS3 isn't going to be good based on it being more powerful. In fact, it's sales are tripled by that of the Wii so far. It has no awesome features.
DVD playback is not a cool feature anymore. Don't pretend you don't already have a DVD player in your house. It just increases costs for something that isn't that new. Now, before you come back with something about the virtual console, there is a difference, as the VC allows you to store games on the console from many different systems.

But not as pretty.

It has blu-ray... But that's worthless unless they come out with some good movies on it.

Xbox anyone?
- Ok, you must admit that was the most creative cussing this site have ever seen -
I'm playing Twilight Princess at the moment, and I love it! They've nailed gameplay down to perfection, in my opinion, and the graphics are STUNNING! Far exceeded my expectations
Rayman is hilarious, too. Red Steel and CoD3 are good fun, but so far Zelda is my favourite Can't wait for Smash Bros Brawl and Metroid!
But yes, the Wii is an awesome console. I've yet to get internet working on it, Zelda is too addictive >.< Been playing 20 odd hours and I don't think I'm even halfway through it!
Im posting this from my Wii. The internet channel right now is a trial version and you can only view one page at a time, but it still is pretty awsome. Especialy since my computer is broke at the moment. I havent heard of a keyboard, but Im sure one is in the works. And thanks to www.ebuddy.com/mobile I can still get on messengers. The trial version only uses flash7; but sites like youtube still work nicely.
"For example, many games ported to slower systems from a slightly faster system (a la arcade to NES), the NES version was just as fast and good."
Arcade games weren't ported to the Nes, They were converted with the systems specifications in mind. It was not the same game by any means. Not even made by the same people most of the time.
Yeah, you do. To port software is to modify it (almost always with the source, and occasionally by hacking the compiled program) to run on a different hardware. A rewrite that doesn't use original source is a 'rewrite' or 'remake' depending on context.
I've heard on the news they tried to port mario brothers (from the NES) to the wii, but the wii just didn't have enough cpu power... wtf, nintendo really blew it this time
Here's the simple truth Wii Sports rocks... unfortunately any of the other Wii titles suck because its practically impossible to aim with the Wiimote. The 360 titles ain't all that much new but the way everything interacts (Xbox Live, Dashboard etc.) is very nice. And well I haven't played a PS3 but if you hope Bluray doesn't get beaten in the Bluray/HDDVD battle then you might have a half decent Bluray player otherwise you'll be left with a nice paperweight.

That's some choice bullcrap there
Wii Sports sucks after about an hour. Have you played Rayman or Zelda? I didn't like Rayman purely because of the graphical style, but it was still pretty decent gameplay wise.
Hey i have a quesiton about the wiimote. When you aim in that pistol game, is it like a lightgun? Because i saw the REAL gameplay videos. and it moves like someone's using an analog or something, looks kind of weird, i dont know.. it's almost as if the wiimote is a scam or something, and everyone fell for it real bad, and exploded into pieces all night!
I was so tempted to download ecco the dolphin the other day after lending it to my friend when I was little and never getting it back. That prick has dreadlocks now >.> bah!
Haha. I'd never pay anything like that for a game that I could get for free on teh interwebs, with a n64 emulator. Fortunately, I still have both my N64 and Super Mario 64.
@Adam: I played Wii Sports for an entire evening with friends and it totally rocked. I also played Zelda and Red Steel. Zelda was OK but overall I've never particularly liked the series. Red Steel was a very nice idea and the sword fighting was damn fun but trying to aim was a nightmare.

On a seperate note, I need help beating Twilight Princess, currently the first dungeon. I have a severe case of aracnidphobia and I keep dying each time I see that huge spider because I'm usually in my closet hiding from it. Requesting a patch without spiders plz.
