If you visited Google in the pass, there was a link at the top right that said something like "Personalised page". It allowed you to personalise the google page, by adding things like clocks, calenders, notes and other gadget type things. You could switch between classic and personalised page.
Now they've renamed it as iGoogle and added some new stuff like backgrounds and things I believe. So if you have the personalised page, you'll see the iGoogle logo. If you have the classic page, you'll see the original Google logo.
This is actually really quite cool... I thought this was going to be one of those sad phases things which no one would use - but I'm setting this as my homepage instead now
"Oh right, iGoogle is Google's attempt to imitate Dashboard."
Don't think so - iGoogle has been around for the last 1-2 years I believe, it's just changed names from Personalised home to iGoogle. And I think iGoogle and dashboard are quite different.
Hernan, Dashboard is a layer of customisable teeny tiny applications in OSX that are activated by pressing F12. Began life on some ancient Apple system and was on later Amiga Workbench systems too.
So they've copied because they have a calendar, clock and search engine?
I don't think so.. iGoogle isn't even for your desktop - it's just a way of personalising your google homepage.
oh for crying out loud someonce got James on to Mac talk again -__-

Web apps are 'in' these days - word processors, music creation, email clients - you can find web alternatives of them now. The big advantage to them is that you don't need any special software or system to open them.
And just because an idea isn't very original (Yahoo home has been around for ages and does the same thing), it doesn't mean it's bad.
"Yes, I know that it is not just Apple fans that don't always check their facts. But I do like to stir the pot, and the Apple pot always shouts the loudest. Apple nerds are nearly as vocal as they are geeky. (But unlike Microsoft or Linux nerds, most Apple nerds think that they are cool.)"
@Mr. James: thanks for fucking up the layout of this thread with your super giant mac screenshot. how about SHRINKING SHIT THE NEXT TIME? so you are on a MAC?
