Who remembers the old Phantasy Star games on the Master System/Mega Drive etc? I loved those little beuts. But yes, I don't know if anyone here has played these games and has also heard Calvin Harris' album but some of the music in there reminds me a HELLUVA lot of the PS music. Listen and see...
I played the orignal Phantasy Star 1, with the girl, the wizard, Odin, and the talking cat thing. Eyeballs with wings! Eyeballs with wings! Awesome 3D dungeons that were way ahead of it's time (albeit too slow moving around in them). Weapons called "Lassic" or whatever, and 3 different planets to travel to. I got as far as the first dungeon on the ice planet- the one where you kept falling down pits and had to do it over again. And white dragons. Awesome!
My friend played them all, 1,2, and 3. He liked 2 the best but the whole generations thing from part 3 is a great idea IMO.

Yush! I can't decide weather I like 1 or 2 best... Its too tough a decision! If I really had to pick I think it would be 2, but only just! I really didn't like 3 at all that much. Don't remember much from it but I know I really disliked the battles =/. I also liked 4 - It was the most professional
I own 2,3 and 4 because they're on the Sega mega collection compilation. Although ive never been interested in actually playing them.
I did try out no.1 on the master system once and did not like.
You're probably too young to remember, but when Phantasy Star 1 first came out and they showed the commercials for it on TV... WOW, was it light years ahead of the competition, graphics-wise. Everybody wanted that game. I suppose it might be like some 50 year old guy trying to get me into Pong lol, it ain't gonna' happen.

"the talking cat thing"
Myao.
I have a GBA cartridge that contains Phantasy Star 1, 2 and 3. Jolly good fun every once in the while, though I like 4 best, and that one's not on it.
Oh no way, the orignal Final Fantasy for the NES was SO good back in the day. I played that game to death for years, and can still pick it up and have a go at it now. That's saying a lot about the longevity. The later installments, with their over abundance of story and blah, blah, blah, I could do without. The last truly great one was part 6 (or part 3 for the SNES, same thing). After that, nosedivesville!

Phinal Phantasy, eh? Well I enjoy 1, 7, 8 and that other one... 3? Or was it 6? The one with the robots things at the start. Also like the new/old DS one.

Yeah, that's the one. It starts off up in some mountains and Terra and 2 enemy soldiers are in these mechanized pods.
final fantasy crystal chronicles. worst ff i've played for ages.
You know what's sad is that I was looking forward to it for so long, I actually bought another GBA so that I could play it with somebody else. (In a genious move by Square, they made it so you need to use GBAs for controllers when playing multiplayer. You can't use a regular controller, which SUCKS!) Anyhow, so I played it with my neice for all of TWO DAYS ONLY, and that was the very last time I played it. I couldn't get into it. I don't care about the story as much, but for a hack n' slasher it really didn't deliver. Especially since one of you had to always carry around this stupid thing that kept the Miasma poison at bay or some shit, effectively making 2 player simultaneous combat stupid. The graphics are really good though, and maybe the music except for the Irish chick voiceovers.
So although the game was a waste I do use my GBA all the time still. Not a total loss.

Pulled my master system out just today in fact, but I couldn't find Phantasy Star, AND my Fantasy Zone cart is gone. I really wanted to try and finally beat the last boss thing in FZ too. But I still have Wonder Boy in Monster World, so I just played the shit out of that.

Me too, picked it up in France for 10 euros (about £6). Also picked up, while I was there - Lemmings for PS2, Final Fantasy IV, Bust-A-Move DS and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. All of these were £6 each too, brand new.
I didn't really enjoy Phantasy Star though, but I guess I was comparing it to Final Fantasy.
