The sheer amount of people here with so called autistic spectrum disorders tells you how important these diagnoses are. That is, not very.
Oh, and you would Circy, you would.

This is a website. Typically people with Asperger's have problems having a social life in real life, but no problems online. In fact with many their online life IS their social life.

Funny you say that. I'm sure all of the AS "sufferers" here have perfectly adequate social lives. Are you suggesting that Circy is a social hermit?

Well everyone's different aren't they Matt.
"...characterized by difficulties in social interaction and by restricted and stereotyped interests and activities."
The one or two I know with AS suit that quote, but not everyone will. It's not all black and white, that everyone with it will have these exact characteristics.. anyway, you know that.

"Well everyone's different aren't they Matt."
Precisely! The sooner we realise these labels are useless and harmful the better.

People do use these things to their own benefit, sometimes.

No, but it was a generalised positive outlook to suggest and highlighting that not everyone with AS has social problems.. though that is the tendency.

When people find out they have something wrong with them, specifically behavioural problems, many seem to use it as an excuse to act like a dick.
Not all people do, but I imagine quite a lot do.

We all struggled with school, exactly.
I wonder how exactly do you get classified as having AS? I might go down tomorrow and have a blood sample taken.
