Personally, I never liked the Veyron. I always maintained that it would never be regarded as a true classic, mainly because it's so damn ugly. The only thing it had going for it was the fact that it was quick (very very quick admittedly), and that was never going to last for long. Needless to say, pretty much noone has ever agreed with me on any of this.
Finally though, someone has made a faster, more powerful, and much prettier car, and I can say I told you so.
Anyways, it's called the "Shelby Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo" and has been officially clocked at 257.41 mph (414.31 kph). Obviously it is American, and therefore probably can't actually go round corners though...
The other big problem with the Bugatti Veyron is that it's actually a Volkswagen.
I get what you mean about the looks. Personally, I think the Saleen S7 is about the most super looking supercar (too bad they only gave it a pathetic 750bhp ). I'd say every Lambourghini made in the last 20 years looks more super than the Veyron.
I guess by the time you're making cars this fast the appearance is going be largely determined by what's most aerodynamic though. It's kind of like how a lot of normal family cars are starting to look more similar/ugly (same sloping hood/windshield) because it makes them more pedestrian friendly.
Interestingly, SSC are claiming a theoretical top speed of 273mph, so stay tuned to see what it can do if they find a longer straight and really push it.
The GT40 is pretty cool, and was way ahead of it's time. It's almost a shame they brought out the new Ford GT.
The Sagaris though? That's not a proper supercar, it's a fancy looking coupe. If you'd said the Cerbera Speed 12, I might have been in agreement. Really though, a truely super super car has to be mid/rear engined doesn't it?
Until I see some *official* figures I'd be seriously sceptical about those claims.
It's less powerful than the SSC and looks to have far worse aerodynamics, so I find it very hard to believe it could be quicker (the two cars are almost identical in weight, though that should only really affect acceleration anyway).
Plenty of relatively unheard-of companies keep making ridiculous and unsubstantiated claims about their cars - Barabus TKR anyone? Until I see some evidence I'm not convinced.
SilverNova:
Fair enough. I'm sure we'd all kill to have any of the cars on this page! I've actually never seen an RX-7 like that - it's pretty cool.
The one other *really* cool looking supercar I thought of is the Mosler MT-900
Using links just prolongs the process of viewing each picture, seeing as the page is already stretched anyways we may as well continue to post them using the img tags.
