This is to announce the openning of a new indie gaming news site, where (to summarize) YOU tell US what the news is.
"Too often, amazing games are released, but very few people play them. Why release games, if (through no fault of your own), nobody gets to hear about it?! … We endeavor to give every developer the chance, to let the public know about their games and what they are working on...
Here at toastface, everything that is relevant to making games and the indie gaming scene will be featured. Providing you have something of interest you wish to share with the indie gaming world - at toastface.com, it will be shared. Your voice will be heard."
Please check out more information on the about page @ www.toastface.com
I'd also like to request a banner link on the left <- if possible? To let people know who we are and what we do, because it's gaming related, we need people to find us and tell us about their games etc, and everyone's news is to be heard.
Thanks all Leave comments here if you wish. All the best! Tim.
It's all well and good having a 'everyone can have their say' policy. But if you ever did get 'big' enough to be the #1 resource for indie gaming news (a kinda laughable claim at the moment) then you may as well just collate RSS feeds from every (wo)man and his(/her) indie gaming blog (and the multitude of personal devblogs that are scattered around), filling the page up with frequently uninteresting posts with a fast turnaround so that any decent news is lost in the noise. And then if you say you're going to filter it, then you're not letting 'everyone have their say' then are you?
I'm not saying the net doesn't need another indie gaming news site, maybe you just need to think about what you're getting yourself into.
And the site needs a bit more contrast. At least the text needs to be a little brighter to be easier to read, and brown, whlie being an adequate colour, is a bit dull when the page is covered in it. Another thing, if submitting news is the main draw of the site, make it really, really easy to see. The small 'Contact' button at the top could probably be placed larger on the sidebar, and/or given it's own image button (or maybe even when you click the little toast guy or something - he needs a name!).
Hey, great stuff, Tim. I like the name! It's a bit "WTF" in a way, but it's good, it makes it easier to remember. It's gonna be interesting to see how your news/submission system will work. The worst that can happen is that it becomes an unmoderated game/website spam forum for small developers looking for attention. But if it turns out well, it might just become the next TIGS or Indiegamer. I have to agree with Jimbob though: Get rid of the "#1 resource for indie games" thing, it's just cheesy. Try and keep it honest and down-to-earth instead.
Thats a good idea. Now, all the good games that get blown away by bigger ones (ex. Hasslevania, Bonesaw, SZC 2, exc.) Now the other games get a chance to be downloaded.
Your just jealous that you're not as awesome as me.
(And my megaman avatar )
Sounds interesting, but one of the things about TDC is that getting your game on the news page is a BIG thing! It gives everyone something to strive for. It doesn't just let newbs, (like when I started out), get their game on the news page. Unless of course it deserves to be.
I used to put newbs on the front page all the time. Now Rikus does it before I even realize the game's there
