It makes my parents lol when Americans say their gas is expensive... Our friends in Virginia were complaining about this, yet it was still only around half the price of what it was in the UK.
I'm going to London to see Les Miz at the theatre, Leeds to see Monkey at the theatre, and Leicester to got to the Alcon anime convention. I'll also be studying Java in preparation for Uni.
The UK is expensive. London especially so. But, on the other hand, the dollar is weak and they have crazy low minimum wage. Currently the US federal minimum wage is £2.93/h, although it'll soon go up to £3.28 and next year to £3.63. The UK has a minimum wage of £3.40/£4.60/£5.52 for those <18, 18-21 and >22 respectively.
I suppose it's all offset though, junk is much cheaper in the states so that low minimum wage probably gets the same quality of life as here. The best bit is being university educated in the UK, working in the UK and then shopping in the US and somehow living there too.
Les mis, you lucky sod. Love some of the music from that! The Westend is the best place to see musicals IMO- Ive never really seen a decent performance in Broadway. Also, my local theatre has the traveling musical productions that are actually better than what I saw in Broadway ... It's kinda like buying designer clothes, most people just rate them for the name, and not what they actually are.
I feel sorry for you guys if prices are higher there... but that doesn't change the fact that it's too expensive over here too. Plus, my family isn't exactly the most... wealthy? I was just thinking about all the stupid stuff and overall decline of American society the other day... Reminds me of Rome. Don't get me wrong though, most aspects of life are better than they were. That was a little deep...
I say, is it really so, old bean? Jolly good for you, Whot? Would you care for a spot of tea and a crumpet? Well, confound it! We seem to be all out! Would a turkish delight suffice, chap?
