I am currently making a game that isn't made yet due to the fact I can't convince my parents to download a game making program but can I still post the project idea even without screenshots or videos?
It's because on one site I was dissed at because of my game and it doesn't have any screenshots to see if I am actually making it(but I think of the games features first rather then making it so won't have to edit something big in my game...well that's what I think anyways.)
I wanna post my project on a forum but do I need screenshots or video proof to show that it's legit?
You can download the trial versions for free and use that for a month, without having to get your parents to pay for it. Try it out first, and that might help.
Why do you need your parents to download the program?
At www.clickteam.com you can download a trialversion of TGF2 or MMF2 and use it for 30 days, show your parents what you've made during that time and I'm sure they'll help you.
Well, I always post a project when it's at least 10% complete. Posting it when you don't think you could even do it is not really a good idea. If you can't really get MMF or GameMaker, then why not try learning C++? I've made a game in it before and so have a few others.
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
If it's not even being made yet, then should you be more concerned about convincing us that it's legit, or convincing yourself that it's legit. Because honestly, I mean... we're not main stream here. We take what we get, projects merely show us what we're going to get.
I think the question shouldn't be "Can I still post information about a game I haven't made yet?" and more "Can someone assist in development of a game that I'm current unable to make, due to: [Insert a reason good enough to convince anyone to do it, and then why it's even worth their time.]
No offense. Just a little tense after Portal: Prelude, Chamber 19.
He didn't say anything about buying it. (Though that may be the case) He said downloading it.
My dad used to not like it when I downloaded stuff. Now I ignore him and put the download folder on my desktop.
Well, actually, now he doesn't really care... >_O What really bugs him is that I keep the Stargate episodes from iTunes on the hard drive. He doesn't listen when I try to explain why that doesn't necessarily slow the computer down.
I'd have to agree with BrandonC. I know a lot of klikers spend more time on advertising a project (trailers, pages, etc) that actually making the project. The thought of making a game and telling everyone about it is the fun part, but you should know that you could finish it before you get everyone's hopes down.

Download the trail, and see how far you can get with it. If this is an issue of having to ask your parents about downloading a file, I'm not sure you're ready for this quite yet.
Have you made a game before? Have you ever used mmf, tgf or any other gamemaking software? Ideas on paper are great and it's good to plan ahead but if you don't even have the means to make it actually happen an idea isn't much good. Not to mention when you finally get one of these programs it will NOT work the way you think, and things you've planned out for hours will not be as easy as to put together as you thought they would.
At the minimum I would expect you could use paint or whatever image editing software you prefer to create the games graphics and create some mock-up screenshots, to at least show what you're going for. You can post a projects page with text text text but few will care and it will fade away. . . .
