Could you imagine if we hadn't imported Friends though, and instead recast everyone and changed the script yet still called it Friends? I think that would be crazy!
-Cough-
I'm American.
Hahah, but i like SOME British comedy, and a lot I can't understand if there accent is too heavy.
but there is British stuff on American TV.
Like OMC said, theres the BBC channel.
Your just jealous that you're not as awesome as me.
(And my megaman avatar )
Do you not agree? I cannot think of anything on the BBC that is even half-funny. Look at what it used to churn out; Only Fools and Horses, The Fast Show, The Vicar of Dibley, One Foot In The Grave, Blackadder, Fawlty Towers, Men Behaving Badly, Monty Python, Red Dwarf, Steptoe and Son, Alan Partridge, The Royal Family.... there are some in there that everyone will like.
now look at what it has introduced recently; The Mighty Boosh, The Smoking Room, Gavin and Stacey, My Hero, Jam and Jerusalum, Catherine Tate, even Little Britain has it's stale moments.
I just don't think they make em like they used to, in my opinion. Not many of the newer shows listed here will still be watched in 50 years time, unlike the shows we still watch now.
I have to agree Mark. The BBC are going for this shallow comedy at the moment with second rate comedians. But the mofo legends like Armando Iannucci... Well he only got series of Time Trumpet before the BBC said stop And MeeBox? That didn't get past the pilot stage despite it being one of the few genuinely funny comedies.
Harry and Paul. URGH. What an absolute destruction of a historically good duo.
Good news is that Dave have commissioned new 2-4 new Red Dwarf episodes. So it's not all doom and gloom.
But seriously why do they cancel GOOD comedy? Futurama's a good example of it too. Yet recycled stuff like Little Britain and The Simpsons storm on
My faith in comedy has returned! Anyone see the Britains got the pop factor (etcetcetec)? Funniest thing I've pretty much ever seen, even better than Phoenix Nights
I really like Two Pints of Larger and a packet of crisps, too >_<;;. Most of the humour is corny or cheesey (sometimes cringingly so), but I always find myself watching it late at night on BBC3
Hollywood = desparate. Here in america there is NO originality. (Just like my plagarizing cousin. ) Yeah, the series sounds pretty lame. I think they're looking to much forward to "Project: Virgle".
