Lol, my test yesterday was on quantitative analysis and leadership. I studied the quantitative analysis for that massive 0 star thread and studied leadership for the massive article that I posted and didn't study anything else in the course. What surprise! I love TDC too for giving me good grades!

Like most communities, they all fall into a specific number of people after they've existed beyond their hay-day. I think we can call this the terminal user count, because as far as I know it doesn't have an actual name. Naturally this terminal user count fluctuates as time goes on, and is effected by a complex network of variables. TDC's terminal user count was never truly high because even when it was popular, people still commented about how they didn't very much like the place, but the band-wagon phase (Point in which the existence of the community causes an unusually high amount of excitement about being apart of it) lasted a bit longer then we all expected it to, leaving us to believe the community is dying. In reality, it's just finally fallen into it's place.

Nice way to put it.
*BrandonC gets a "creative words" gold star*
Let us not forget, too, that MMF and its family of products is relatively little-known. It's a surprisingly large community, all things accounted for, if you ask me.
Terminal user count sounds like a term used to describe the user count when the community is dead
I'd say yeah, the community is in a happy balance. Life tends to balance itself out in the end, the same goes for website communities. It was a bit overbloated back in the olde days.. I think Construct has actually helped pull out a lot of the angry people who actually made games and TIGSource grabbed the people who wanted to talk about making games.
Now, it's nice, the way TDC was intended to be. A place where people could make games, download games that people made, and ask for help on it. The forums are a bit less active than before, but the activity on the Downloads page is fluctuating nicely.

I think the reason activity had died down from around 2001 is that quite a lot of members were around the same age and have simply grown out of it. When you start getting to the age where you're starting a family and/or have a full time job, you just can't find the time for clicking.

Indeed. That was the clicking heyday. Even now, with new people getting interested, the recruitment levels are alot lower. And you know, some people may have gone on to make real games. When was the last time a Wii or Xbox game was made in MMF? Hmmm?
Brandon love the avatar btw, great Scott!
I believe that if clickteam and its products get more popular, so will the click community sites around them.
I think I have mentioned this in the timelines but when the site was in the beginning stages we had about 3 visitors a day. The forum activity was actually so low i went in there under 3 fake names and started a conversation with myself hoping people would join in (shees was i a little sneaky there
Also since no1 was uploading any games in the beginning I often would search the internet for games and then submit them myself to this site as i did with the old ap-zone site.
Point being is I am extremely proud of what the site has become today and that the old time users (willing or not, lol) are still feeling the urge to come back to the place to see whats going on.
There are still lots of new member sbeing registerd but not all the new folks are posting on the forums or making comments, they are downloading stuff however and checking everything out. Times will keep changing and so will people it is just a good feeling to know that when everything is said and done this site will still be here offering what it does best, great games, articles, projects and great people, either now or 5 years from now.
