I'm Making a 2d zombie sidescroller for a final project in my game desigm class. I have used multimedia fusion 2 for about 2 months now. Does anyone know a simple way of switching guns? i was thinking about creating a new character and deleting the old one relative 0,0 but that seems to complicated.

Have your character and his weapon two separate objects. Have the weapon constantly positioned at his hand in the event editor. Give the 'weapon' different animations for each different weapon he can carry, and set it to which one you should be using.

Well I usually use character anims for the guns or weapons or WHATEVER, but I should probably do this instead.
