The 11th Doctor has been announced. At first I thought "wow, he's ugly" but then he kinda looks like he has potential to make a good doctor. Although he has scary, staring eyes, like those of the alien baby thing in Alien Resurrection that gets sucked into space I was really hoping for it to be a woman, though
I dunno, I think that would mess up things somewhat. Timelords don't change sex, I think... They just change their looks. I'd have liked Patterson as the Doc but he probably can't be as excitable as Doctors should be.
Basically it's just Doctor Who, minus the Doctor. It's pretty much just a show about a lady who is constantly having troubles with aliens, the only reference to Doctor Who is that she's called Sarah Jane.
Why don't they choose someone radically different or more eccentric, instead of the identikit 'young 20-something bloke with model looks'? The last 3 doctors have been pretty much in the same mould visually. I know if it's not broken, don't fix it - and Doctor Who is doing wildly well for the BBC - but i think it's a shame it's so different to the older version of it when the doctors were so so different. Just look how radically different and eccentric the older doctors were:
