I had an Athlon64 3800 with MMF2 Developer and upgraded to a Intel Core Duo e7200.
When I came back to continue my game making affairs, I noticed a huge performance drop, despite the better processor (same HD and GPU).
Is that a multi-core problem? I thought that maybe MMF2 uses one processor core only...
Yup, that's the problem with multi-core. Unless the application specifically uses both cores, it's likely that it's just using one. CTRL-ALT-DEL and check how much CPU it uses to be sure.
But really, it's hard to say what's a better CPU these days. They may be able to do more work totalled up, but somehow these new multi-core CPUs don't seem to perform as well as they do in benchmark tests and all.
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
Thanks everyone!
I think I found the solution.
Disabling the V-sync option (wich worked fine on my previous PC) gave me a FPS boost.
Guess I'll even post a screenshot to celebrate. (the game will be 640x480 full screen)
