I was working on this fighter where I want a sound clip of the characters name to play whenever he is selected in the menu. the clips I have are for the wrong file type and so I'm using directshow. The question is, how do I "reload" the Dshow so that it will play multiple times in the one frame? y'know, if the player clicks a different guy and then goes back. A free WMA converter would be cool too, but I may have to use this in the future.

try Audicity.
(Something like that)
It can convert audio files if you need it to.
Your just jealous that you're not as awesome as me.

audacity can only open .au aka audacity project files. I just re-recorded them all. oh well. I'll leave this open anyways just in case anyone actually knows.

not exactly sure how your menu works, but, you could just have it play samples, such as
internal flag 1 is off user clicks on character 1 object - play sample character 1, set internal flag 1 on, set internal flag 2 off
internal flag 2 is off user clicks on character 2 object - play sample character 2' set internal flag 2 on, set internal flag 1 off
as for audacity, i have it, you can just click and drag an audio sample into the little box and edit and convert from there. hope i was actually helpful for once

Actually, you did in away. I hadn't looked at the import thing but I decided to record with audacity anyways. As for the other stuff... I have no idea what you're talking about.

Oh no I see what you were saying. But no. Firstly, I had to carry it through frames. Flags wouldn't work. Secondly, I had to find something that would make the sample filetypes; that was the problem.

Audacity only opens .aup files because those are it's native files. Use the import option to open a real sound file.
