G1 was split into 4 series; series 1 and 2 before the animated movie, series 3 and series 4 (made up of only 3 parts) after the movie. G2 was actually G1 episodes with some CGI opening/closing sequences. Also, there were the Japanese trilogy;
Headmasters
Super-God Masterforce
Victory
...which followed on from series 3 of the G1 series (since the Japanese were waiting for series 4). Then after these 3 series they began another called Zone, but only the pilot came out as it was cancelled in Japan due to low ratings. Also, since the animated movie wasn't out in japan straight away, they made their own bridge between G1 series 2 and 3 with Transformers: Scramble City.
I didn't watch the cartoons as a kid but I did (dun-dun-duuuuh!) read the comics. Sparingly at least, our local library used to get new ones whenever they were available and I picked a load up a holiday in Scotland (Dinobots one, I think...). Loves me comics
There was a G2? The only transformers I really watched was Beast Wars, and I catch the Animated one when the kid is watching it. I apparently missed alot.

Reboot was cool, i remember that! I hope that wasn't a Contructicon or Devastator coz it's on one wheel - how gay is that?!?! That's the only thing about the movie - it tries to stay faithful to G1 but it changes too much. Still loved the movie though and the movie toys were cool.
Shab, G2 was short-lived during the very-late 80's/early 90's when they tried to boost sales of the toys. The toys were a mixed bag though; some good, some bad. ALL had horrible colour schemes and Hasbro changed the Autobot and Decepticon symbols, possibly due to copyright rules or something.

I'm sure I saw G2. When I was a kid we used to rent out the same video almost every week. G2 seemed good when I was young but I'm sure that'd be different if I saw it again .
Trying to find my Transformers toys. Used to have a huge collection of these smaller ones, they released "series 2" of them in 1996. Thinking of it I bet they weren't even real Hasbro toys
