So, what do you think about the new flash runtime? I don't like the fact that you have to pay for it, and that you can only use MP3s for it, which apparently must also be paid for. Pretty awesome though, huh?
They've affirmed many times that it's real and that the joke is that it's not a joke. I still don't know though. For now I'm not getting my hopes up, but apparently Looki decompiled it and thinks it's real...
I think it might be real.

Did anyone else bother to decompile it, or are you assuming looki isn't in on the joke too?

Well I decompiled it and it looks legit. Either MMF can export flash, or they recreated these two games in flash. Looking through the source, it looks like a decent amount of code, so I would hope it's the former.

Lol, April Fools Day is the announce weird surprises day now Hehe, I want to put my wedding on April 1.
I'm going with the bet that it's fake. Can't really tell, but it's a 50-50 believability for me, and I want to be on the side nobody else is on

Those are 100% MMF2 created, not rewrites. The thing that gives this away is that there is slight graphical tearing in the framebuffer system that they utilized (this is not HWA). Flash should be HWA, so such tearing would not happen and instead one should see frameskip. This is good news! We can have our things run on macs! Seriously!
I believe you, Jeff. With this kind of magical material lol Click can easily top more and more flash games than imaginable. I mean the coding is ten times easier than Action script (Unless that's what we'll be using ) so you can make a way bigger game and still have more patience with programming and spriting. And I hate to say this, but Flash has better art utilities, hands down. But IMO and in all respects MMF2 is 1 - easier, 2 - Less costly, and 3 - more user friendly than Flash ever was or will be.
...Heh, It'll be fun reading through the comments that Newgrounders post asking how long it took to make a game like Cave story or such, lol. Silly, silly Flash users- so unacknowledged in the ways of game creation.
If you thought I said Flash users aren't as smart then I'd be the dumb one. Hell, they're WAAAAY smarter than half the people here when it comes to programming. What I meant was they're dumb for using such a complicated program to make games with, when you could just use MMF2 which, in comparison, is all the things I've stated above; 1-3.
I completely understood what you meant, however I don't think "unacknowledged" is the word you were looking for. How about, "Unknowledgeable?" Unacknowledged would mean something like flash programmers not being recognized for the work they do... which in the context of your post, wasn't likely what you meant.
It was just a (bad) joke, sorry.

I wouldn't mind paying to export flash files from MMF2. If its only used for MMF2 dev, I'll even upgrade to that.
Blows TGF1 right out of the water, but tbh so does everything else LOL.

If we will all be able to convert our MMF games to Flash the whole click community will invade Flash sites like Newgrounds and all those other sites and take them by storm.
I personally think that most flash games SUCK. Also AS is a pain in the ass. The shit some people do in flash in 3 weeks...anybody can fart that one out of their ass in MMF in only 3 days.
IF THIS IS REAL (and ive been told it is) it is a BIGGER improvement then just MMF 2. This will give MMF actual CUSTOMERS. Not just the small handful of users we all know. It will open a big ass market for clickteam. Flash is BIG and everybody wants to do shit in Flash - with MMF anybody can! It will be great for ad agencies and everybody.
MMF can do Java that means you can start making cell phone games in MMF and SELL THEM! A lot of cells even run Flash games now and soon we will be able to do those in MMF as well.
Think about the cross platform possibilities. EVERYBODY can run your flash games then and you could start your own company selling your games. SHIT people could actually make a LIVING with Clicking this time FOR REAL.
It is certainly the biggest improvement ever and I shit my pants multiple times and still am. It's like diarrhoea of happiness.
Now I am wondering how all this is possible and what will work. We know Flash uses MP3s- clickteam never bought a license for MP3 and we can only import mp3s external but we cant embed those into our files. how will that work with SWFs? I dont want to use a big ass WAV. We all know flash cant support things like midi MMF still uses.
I am wondering about the file size. What will be smaller : MY game as EXE or SWF? I bet EXE. It would be great if MMF could actually support Vectors but thats too much to ask for I think but with all those pixel graphics the SWF files will contain the files will end up being DAMN BIG unless we make some more Snake/Pong clones. LOL
Anyways if this all works out as planned (and i still cant believe it)
1) this will give Clickteam a lot of sales
2) a lot of people will find out about MMF suddenly
3) the community will get bigger
4) maybe there will be new community sites and a lot of jerks/little kids will join TDC and ruin the nice atmosphere we've got here with their attitude
5) if it becomes super big and super popular and only MMF dev will have it expect a shitload of torrents to be out there and clickteam NOT making the money they deserve :C
They're buying the MP3 and flash license... you just pay a one-time fee it seems. Most of me thinks having a bigger install base for Clickteam's software is awesome, but a little bit of me is selfish and wants to keep it smaller. Not only does the community seem more friendly when it's smaller, but there's also less competition.
But of course this is a good thing if not just for Clickteam's sales. Even with this I have a feeling Clickteam will keep a certain amount of obscurity though. (sadly )
my guess is clickteam realized that not doing anything+construct was going to bury them, and since trying to get rid of construct failed, it was time to actually do something. Great !

Which is why competition is great. Shame the fanboys of products never see that.

Yup and ironically I have to say construct was the best thing that ever happened to clickteam, and thus us customers.
Competition as in with other Indie game makers in this particular community, not Indie game making programs. -_-;; It wasn't really a personal statement, I just meant that it will be easier for some of the people's creations to be buried when there is a bigger deluge of them.
