edit: ummmm. the KlikCast Icon is in the store for -1 dcpoint and i bought it. and it GAVE me a point as well as the icon. lol
edit2: it also subtracted a point from my points spent.

Most of the tags were pretty pointless anyway, more fun if you bought them yourself

The "fun" tags were more like recognition for doing something interesting and/or unique in the community. Not about saving up points and buying something everyone else could have if they had the points too.

So about the tag-hating, as in the idea that they aren't special anymore...
A: There can always be tags that only the admins will be able to give, beyond GOTM and Picture Me This
B: You couldn't have all these tags be privileges. To have to ask for a Wii Owner or PS3 or Xbox 360 Owner tag would have been dumb. That would also limit the amount of different tags you could own, because such a vast majority couldn't be moderated by admins very well.
C: Having other people decide when to give you tags and what tags to give would be kind of restrictive of your ability to express yourself with pictures.
I had better arguments than those, but I can't grasp them anymore. About ratings, other sites have similar things. They're like signatures because they let you express yourself. How is that not fun? Maybe we make custom ratings appear on the profiles as well, like they were a quote or something. OOH! We should let people buy new profile features! And someone make images that can be clicked on to link to other places. WE NEED HYPERLINKS! This place is so primitive...

You can already use your profile pic for that anyway, and you can't put whatever you want as a tag, they have to be approved tags. Since everyone else chooses from the same ones, you aren't really "expressing yourself." And besides, do you normally control every single aspect of a website you visit? Is it alll that important?
But meh. I'm not saying the idea should be abandoned or that it's even bad, I just think it's not quite as AWESOMEZORZ as people make it out to be...
