Yo, don't post shitty reviews and articles for DC points. Seriously, they aren't that cool, and it pisses people off, especially the game crator. Actually play the game before reviewing it, and learn the controls. It sucks to see your game get a worse score because the reviewer couldn't figure out how to perform basic tasks.

Ok, also, I know math isn't everyone's strong point... but if you rate presentation a 5-6, everything else a 8 or 9, and then give it an overall 10, your review isn't constructive really. It's just a disguised lie.

Presentation: 5/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Graphics: 9/10
Sound and Music: 7/10
Lastability: 7/10
Overall: 10/10

Really. What? Did I miss the mystery category where they got something like 27/10?

Yeah people seem to be reviewing a game after a quick 3 minute go on it. Missing out important information. For instance the features...
How can you fairly review a game when you didn't READ you can kill enemies?

I also hate it when people make a review to make a point. For example I don't agree with a review, so another little fan of the game gets annoyed, goes and makes a review giving it the full 10/10, just to try and prove it actually is good. And again, the review is a load of crap.

Sometimes it's like when university tutors mark work and don't compare the marking to other students. So good work ends up getting the same mark as a load of crap, with a few pages of blagging writing to explain why a chair covered in human excrement can be considered as modern art.

Why not just put a 200-word limit on the reviews? It works wonders on the forums.

Heh, this was inevitable. Poor reviews and articles have existed long before DC points were worth anything, and it was sorta fun to make them, especially when you had passion for a game and don't have proper skills to write about them, or if you just want to write an article to say something publicly or share something cool that everyone else already knew. Now that you actually get (useful) points for them, it was only a matter of time before it gets seen as doing it for points.

But I think yeah, deleted content should get you losing double points.

Just press that alert admin button on any spam reviews or whatever you guys find.

You can't put a filter on laziness though, you can still talk about absolute crap and beat the limit.

each section should be required. and the overall automatically calculated.

min overall word count of about 750-1500 words.

and then checked by an admin.

Lol, you kid about the 750-1000 words. A good review can go only 300 words if written right

I'd go with the admin checking reviews, and articles too. It'll probably just be a quick glance, but that's all you need to get rid of crap ones.

a 750-1000 word count is about a one page magazine article. with a picture. a BIG picture.

the only review i've done so far has a 675 word count. give or take for headings and smileys n such.

a good review has NO min word, but is one that says everything that needs to be said with no fluff. which could be 5 words (ala eegra's five-word/haiku reviews) or 1500 words.

id go as low as 500. but you can say a lot of nothing in 300 words. 300 words is not much. especially when you have 5 areas about the game to discuss. which i also think should be required.

Well concerning that I don't think the overall score should necessarily be an average of other factors. It's actually pretty shallow to grade a game by that. Are there no games that you think they don't have a very fancy presentation, or perhaps graphics, but you think they're simply brilliant and deserve a higher overall score than a simple average?

I don't think forcing a template on people will raise the quality of reviews. Everyone has their own idea on how to review a game. Yeah some people want to review just to get points, it's annoying i know.
The only thing i can suggest is just a note before making a review telling people it's recommended you play a game to the end before reviewing it.
No one likes to see a comment saying they played the game and didn't like it after level 1 so they deleted it. Because who puts everything into level 1? But then again games need a high grab factor to rise above the others...

How about an Official TDC review team? A few people you can at least trust to give fair detailed well though out reviews based on more than 1 level of gameplay.

This is like the old days. In 2002-2003 people would make up crap for DC-points that didn't even do anything. Also I really feel old.
