Start a project and hand single team members something specific to do as a hired hand rather than part of a "team." It will still technically be a team but there will be more structure. When people are all trying to get their ideas in the game either never gets made or is an inconsistent wreck...
Just some advice I have from the many groups I've seen and even been a part of.
Then maybe once you've got a solid little group of people who know what part of the game they contribute to, you can have a truly collaborative game where everyone contributes ideas and then stays in their sector of work.
You're already on the right track then, if you want people for helping with LAS. Number one rule for groups: Structure! It's up to the group starter to provide that, I think. Unless of course you sign someone on as the morale officer/organizer/executive plan maker.
