James, I have some comments about Tormishire but the latest trailer is now pretty old. You make trailers for that game pretty often so I'm wondering if I should wait for trailer number 6 or just send you my comments anyway.
p.s. sorry to those who clicked on the forum thread thinking that it was a new trailer

I could but given the attention this game gets I thought I'd post it here instead in case others are interested. Not everyone checks the project page for each game daily but most everyone checks the forums. Delete it if you think it's inapropriate, I don't mind.
james is being lazy. somebody give him some motivation trphys or tie him up to a tree and whip hug him.

Would be nice if James could actually post in this thread. It's not like he hasnt been on and off TDC every single hour, why he's ignoring attention god knows.
Well theres no need for a new trailer yet. Other than a new boss and some new areas theres nothing significant to demonstrate now. Maybe later in the year.
Lol, that's the first Tormishire trailer I've ever watched till the end.

This is just one of those threads where you can't tell if the internet is being sarcastic.

My original post was sort of a cheeky response to the amount of trailers we've already seen for a 40% complete (at the time) game. But still, it's a genuine offer if you're still looking for realistic feedback on Tormishire. The game looks amazing; definitely above average for indie games and certainly well above the average for this site.
I feel a wee bit sorry for your position sometimes because the game looks so good that 99% of the feedback you get from people here is simply along the lines of "omg looks great can't wait epic epic" (similar to many of the comments above) but I've hardly ever seen anyone give you real feedback, i.e. bugs - of which I've seen a lot of in the trailers. I think that's bad news for you (or anyone else) as a developer because you can be sure that people will be quick to point things out when the final game is released.

I completely understand, I don't get the greatest feedback from any sites. I send out little demos to industry people and a few games journalists who offer some brilliant feedback. Making trailers are great for feedback too because like you spotted too - making a video is a good way of forcing artificial slowdown to your game and when you're spooling through the vid frame by frame you spot all the little mistakes. But I did fix that positional bug by simply making it not follow the playfield, heh.
But yea I'm happy doing a trailer a year now. The game was changing so much initially and I definitely made too many early gameplay vids early on. There's a few more unreleased ones on my Youtube page that demonstrate some of the engine stuff. But the only real trailers that have any reflection of the game now are 4 and 5. Everything before that has changed so drastically. That's part of the reason why I'm not happy releasing a demo just yet, knowing the way I work the final game will be nothing like how the current build plays.
