hey!
i have been.. around.. for many years here. i am probably one of the oldest.. i haven't really said much, but i would love to be more integrated in the create-games and general game making community.
i have sparked up one of my old projects, you can watch the trailer here!
in addition to making a own website for froggerbound i also want to make 2 more sites.
one is the main SoftWarewolf website (.com\.net) where i will have my own games, general stuff that i am have made.. a personal site if you will, it will be black, dark and flashy
in addition to that i registered www.gameyey.com ^^ i want to make this a more professional'ish site, white and clean with maybe some affiliates and ads etc and try to make a buck, i paid a lot for mmf2 dev and websites etc so i hope i can earn a bit back someday.. so far i made.. maybe 10$ for a single copy of Spacebar after hundreds of hours work and spending my own government given loans on multimedia fusion etc..
so i hope Frogger bound can be a success.. and that if i actually do make some money i won't get sued
its pretty solid with over 100 levels (soon) level editor, challenges, options, boss and everything (you don't see everything in the trailer)
i was thinking selling it for 19,95$ like all the other games out there, but also have the donation option where people who donate (even just 1cent) will get the game too.
i am not sure if i will have almost all the features open anyway, just donation\purchase to remove nag screen or if i should hide away most of the game and actually have it as a shareware game, what do you think?
The music is from Requiem of a dream- it's actually pretty popular in fan trailers, and it IS a good song...
Anyways, this looks REALLY cool, but I think the music was abit dramatic for the trailer. Nonetheless it looks mighty fine, and I can't wait to play it!
woah, this game seems epic. Who knew that little frog could be such a star
Hey guys, if you need a spritist or someone to create anything about art:
-Logos
-Cut-scenes
-Sprites
and all sort of other things, then just send me an email or PM me!
Frogger is a trademark. If you charge for a product - a videogame, no less - under that name it is very possible that you'll face legal action from Konami.
It looks a lot more varied and fun than Frogger's rather basic game mechanic. Are you not tempted to make your own IP with its own character?
thanx for all the positive energy, i definitely want to work on this game even harder now
perhaps i should just have changed the name.. i already registered froggerbound.com though.. i'll change the name if it gets popular or Konami says something
i actually mixed the 4 most dramatic music tracks i could find, so its music from the davinci code, requiem of a dream, terminator 3 and titanic.
You won't be able to sell it unless you change the character. I had a feeling you'd want to eventually though, since it's always better to have your own character on a cool idea.
I hate to be a downer, but there is no way Konami is going to let you do this if they find out about it. You would have to change the name, and even then, probably the character appearance. That said, this looks better than any of the Frogger games I've seen, but it's exactly the sort of thing that they'd put the screws on if they found out it was making money.
If wishes were fishes then we'd all smell like ladies' underwear.
I remember the original two-game release of Frogger Bound, Temple and Dungeons... I don't remember if I downloaded both, but I thought it was cool. It inspired me to make my own Frogger engine, based on this game: http://www.mobygames.com/game/frogger_
I liked that game so much, but on OSs after ME, it didn't play any music.
Well i changed the name to "Frog Bound" in my .mfa file now
lame, but its definitely the easiest way to go, should have thought about it before i registered the domain though, i just used that name for so many years now.. *sniff*
i also noticed on youtube some of the new frogger games have gameplay similar to mine now.. (different traps where you have to learn systems of movement)
most of my traps or more complex though, great fun
Even i made a little "yes!" scream when i finally finished my own last level yesterday and got to my credits
I dont think you will be in much trouble using a frogger in the game. I saw a kliker, a-coders I think who sold Pacman clones without getting in trouble for it. As long as you wont become a milionaire it will be fine.
...
Dustin Gunn Gnarly Tubular Way Cool Awesome Groovy Mondo
yes this is a continuation of an old title
i have been working on this under the name "frogger bound 2" but i changed it around a bit, and frogger bound 1 had 2 releases, temple and dungeons.
so to avoid all confusion and issues its now just "frog bound" simple as that
i hope you wait for this game to release rather than looking up the old ones, the best levels from the old games are included here.
this game experience will be better
Honestly I think it's more unique than Frogger, enough that it really would deserve it's own original character/name. Its already changed the setting, it's not crossing a road and a river etc.

I really wouldn't recommend it. I know a girl who sold games she downloads off the Internet at a shopping mall and still hasn't been arrested. And game companies are very trigger happy when they're finding an excuse to why they're losing money.
You could always try and change it from being a frog to something else. Game concepts get sold all the time, just look different. If it was a chicken and called Bound Chicken, I'm certain nobody would touch it

You'd really be suprised, people making homebrew games for consoles or ROM hacks have been issued with "cease and desist" from game publishing/developing company's lawyers over fan games or games that use anything from a game company's intellectual property, name or graphics. And they weren't even commercial projects. I think those are predominantly because of graphics and overall being the same game but a sequel or a port for the system, but it's also happened with names/game concepts.
I think in these cases you are most elligible for a cease and desist if you plan to make money off another company's intellectual property, but even then sometimes they don't like freeware/fan projects.
