Youre the second one I tell this today but we have a downloads section for downloads, thats why it's called downloads you can put your stuff there NOT on the boards. Youre pushing all the good topics from list with this.
this is what I get pissed off about to start with!! I was just stating what had been said and done. Guy submits game and its not good enough to be accepted and there are some TERRIBLE games that did get accepted. Then guy proceeds to post it on the boards Now do I want to read about a game that was not good enough to be accepted to a list of mediocre games? So I speak my mind and people go "submitting junk on boards is fine carl " "your an asshole carl" I cant stand such a cocky atitude.

We can't either. Pipe down and don't act like you're the king of the forums. It's rude to say someone's early games are bad, and you don't decide who gets to share their games and who doesn't.
Well first of all the admins already did that by not accepting his game and secondly I made the KlikCast logo so I have at least a bit of a say here...but I will STFU and be nice...but just to not get banned and stuff.

I will not comment on why the download was not accepted since I was not part of the decision. As long as you are nice I don't care what the reason is.
I liked this game and want to write a review about it in the reviews section.... but since it's not a download i can't and won't bother here. However i will say this; i liked the premise of this game (helicopter saves princess from falling construction vehicles, flying sperm, the army and a giant rat - classical "once upon a time" stuff!) and i liked the fact it actually requires skill to play it! The controls are what i consider perfect, i.e. they take some learning but can be grasped in just a few goes. This means the game feels as though you've not played any/many games like it before and that it's original, which is a big plus-point. The graphics, though crude looking, fit the game and it's premise perfectly and the game is complimented by some fantastically original sound effects - especially the vocal helicopter rotar noise!
At the end of the game (which takes a few goes to do, thanks to that pesky rat keeping guard) you're treated to an equally bizarre ending screen where the helicopter just spins really fast and the rotar sound effect has a "pitch-orgasm", then you're treated to some bad spelling which, ironically fits the whole game beautifully.
Yes, the game is short. However it's called the 1 Minute Game so you won't feel cheated. It takes just a few seconds to download (subject to internet provider!) and plays wonderfully. Some more experienced coders should take note to this because it delivers exactly what it says on the tin and plays better than it looks, no bad thing to those of us who enjoy gameplay over graphics. I hope Trevor keeps on making these kinds of games and i wish him all the luck in the future.
The thing is Carl generally speaking on TDC it matters not if you have a valid point, you will be totally ignored if you show any sign whatsoever of negativity.
The usual course of action when trying to make a point is to apologise 5 times at the start of your post, throw in a couple dozen smilies and leave out and caps and exclamation marks.
An ASCII kirby can't hurt either.
failing to adhere to any of the above will result in a flamewar and ultimately the locking of a thread or your posts being deleted. If you're unlucky you'll pick up a few warnings too.

lol wut
The point is that we are all supportive of the community, even if you don't like someone's game you give them constructive criticism to improve upon next time. Do so and people will show you the same courtesy. If you want to walk around calling everyone's games shit, expect to receive the attitude back. It's simple, isn't it?
WTF is Andyuk the only guy with a brain here?? I never effing said this game is crap I said it was not good enough to be added to the downloads (otherwise IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED) and that its not cool to make a forum post for it when your game is not accepted its just stupid.
"I said it was not good enough to be added to the downloads... and that its not cool to make a forum post for it when your game is not accepted its just stupid"
uh wut? "this game isnt crap its just not good" is pretty much what youre saying? whats the difference?
it doesnt matter whether its good or bad, whether it was accepted or posted in the forums. the problem is your negativity and bad attitude surrounding the situation. you arent helping yourself either by each subsiquent negative response. which they have all been. im getting tired of this.
AWW FOR THE LOVE OF GAWD...I will say it one more time for the real dumb asses out there.
- I never said this game sucks (didn't play it so can't judge eh?)
- This was not accepted by the admins (not because it is such a great game I figure........)
- The admins not accepting this makes me think it was not good enought o be on TDC (should make sense unless the admins are weird)
- I mention its probalby not cool to post about a game that was rejected in the first place (because I care about the boards)
- People say it is OK TO POST ABOUT GAMES THAT ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE DOWNLOADS LIST (doesn't make sense to me at all)
- I rephrase what has been said (and then people use it to make it look like I said this game is crap which I didn't)
So to make a long story short...it is ok to post games that were rejected for not being good enough but it is not ok to post about games that WERE good enough cuz then its spamming? I can't even find that in the rules!! If it goes on like this every body will start posting about their games on the boards to get more attention which I think would be REALLY BAD. You wont catch ME post my game on the boards when its done.
I said what I wanted to say and I will stand by it but this is the last thing I said about it. Be ignorant all you want and take what I said out of context I don't care any more. I dont want to be nasty but you people work me up with this.
Seeing as people get away with spam around here I don't see why this is so bad. Give the guy some constructive feedback so he might avoid making a "crappy game" in the future instead of whining about it? It's a game community, it's bound to have games posted on the boards, quality good or not.
I thought the movement was really hard to get used to, though there's a glitch were you can fly over the stage to the end avoiding all obstacles. With some original graphic library, less big objects it could make a good minigame. Maybe add the ability to shoot and you can have some combat elements to fill out the gameplay with.
thank you for all the concern.
i enjoy these type of games because it helps me learn programming faster and it allows me to see what people enjoy playing.
i am still pretty new at this but i think iv done well so far.
i appreciate the criticism and love the wacky comments.
thanks to those who took the time to have a look at it
One post hardly constitutes spam. When all someone does is post post post about their games it gets annoying. But when a new member failed to get their download accepted, it's normal and completely fine for them to come to the boards for comments and support. In fact it's not even so bad if an old member posts about their game in the forum if they're excited about it. Everything in moderation.
I can see the logic train that would lead you to believe a game that fails to be accepted to the downloads probably might not be very good, but the issue here is that you're mean and very rude about it not being in the forum for no reason. Instead of worrying about being anal with imaginary rules and declaring that it's so awful that you have to see games in the forum you don't want to see, either don't comment or just play the game and give constructive criticism. Are you going to start posting mean comments on every single topic that doesn't interest you?
We are not being ignorant, we are not being mean, we are not being unreasonable, we're being welcoming to a new clicker. How's this any different from someone posting a non-finished source for help? If you don't stop being the "asshole" that you say everyone's calling you, you'll get banned. So cut it out.
The key is to stop thinking we're out to get you. When someone thinks something you said was rude, don't blow up at them, it only confirms it. Things are better straightened out calmly.
I bet Trevor wasn't expecting all this over his game! The only good thing i can think that's come from the fighting on this thread is that it's thrusted Trevor's fair effort even further into the lime-light. Which, considering it's an early effort from a new klicker, is nothing but a good thing!
I'm thinking that I just got it to finish downloading, after trying so many times.
Anyways, I like the alternating Z/X thing, it's more unique that just holding a button or using the eight direction movement. I found it hard to control though, with the tilting and all. I never actually one, but there's potential here.
Now let's think about this folks. If this had been an engine that someone had posted here for input on (as has been done before) would you have reacted the same? Where should he go for input if he can't have a download page? Just saying.
Yes to OMC and Jon Lambert. That's the whole reason it got fiery, unless we are narrow-minded elitist assholes, everyone deserves to get input on their work. If it's not accepted as a download, and he's not allowed to show people the game, how the hell will he know what IS acceptable as a download? Everybody deserves to have their game looked at and constructively discussed so they can improve. I guess it's been said enough.
I don't understad how 10-second game got accepted but 1-minute game didn't.... but i won't lose any sleep over it! I guess it could have been decisions made by different admins or something.
