They actually added a "did you hear Michael Jackson's died?" scene to tonight's Eastenders (obviously filmed this morning), and were playing his music in the background of the Queen Victoria pub
Until about 2 months ago I thought he was the most overated artist of all time, then I started reading some stuff about him and his musical career, watching several videos and listening to some of his best known albums, and all that made me realize that even though my musical taste has nothing to do with his type of music, the guy truly was a great artist.
Oh and it's worth mentioning that I was named after him (my real name is mike btw)
Self-proclaimed king of pop and all that, but really you have to understand it's sort of the truth considering how good some of his music was and how much influence he had on a lot of people. You just don't see it so much, all you see is MIKAERL JACKSUN RAPES CHILDRENZ or HE PUT HIS BABEE OUT OF A WEENDOW or some other sort of media controversy.
When I was little I was freaked out by the guy, and before I heard his music I wanted him to be dead, 'cuz one night I had a nightmare about him. But now that he really is dead, I feel sad. I love to play Beat IT on Guitar Hero, and the Thriller music video was amazing for what they had in those times.
EDIT: R.I.P. Michael Jackson - You don't miss something 'til it's gone.
I said a while ago that MJ would be a legend if he died early, like Elvis, Freddy Mercury, Jimi Hendrix, or Kurt Cobain. Was horrible seeing all the stuff that happened to him after he dropped out of the spotlight. Even worse that he died shortly before trying to get back in the spotlight again.
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
Hmm, quite sad really. Always disliked the guy personally, what with all the paedo-accusations and all, but he was a genuinly lengendary artist. Most musical acts these days get too big too quickly (atleast in their own minds!) and disappear after 2-3 albums. Jacko is up there with Elvis, Hendrix, Lennon etc now
I'm sad because I wanted him to make more songs. So sick of most the crap they put out these days. Now I'll never get to hear any of the new stuff he would have made.
I've always focused on his music only. It's not healthy to idolize anything, not even God. In the Bible it states that one should not pray to images because it is God who is to be worshiped and not the image of God. It also states that God is the only one to worship. Alot of the Christian-variety religions actually disobey these btw. After that whole media frenzy about child touching or whatever they claimed he did, you were pretty much ridiculed if you said he or his music was cool though.
You guys do realise that he was indeed the King of Pop right? ... He made the music style popular and even invented the dance style.
Everyone that followed within those stylings just emulated him in some form or another. There wasn't anything like it until Michael came along. My dad says he doesn't like him and makes fun an' all, but he's listened to his music and liked it without ever knowing that "Michael Jackson" sang it.
I just feel sorry for him and his family. If he did do the disturbing things they claim, then I hope he finds forgiveness and redemption in the afterlife from the children and from God. He was not a well individual you know. Time does not work the same way in the afterlife as it does in this world, meaning they could be there talking to eachother right now. Ghosts are what happens when one becomes trapped between this world and the next. Perhaps he is in the ghost realm with unfinished business an' all.
Let's get serious though, he's not really dead, I seen him at the mall the other day.
Blood of the Ancient One, Seen only as Shadow, Faster than Lightning, Fierce as the Greatest Dragon, Nearly Invisible, Floating in a Dream, Entered through the Demon Door, Destroyer of Evil in a Realm with a Red Sky Scarred, Who could I be ?

Same story for me there. His music reached everyone.
But you know, I was out in town yesterday and I saw people wearing MJ T-shirts - before he died nobody around here would dare admit liking his music as they would probably be spat at or beaten up - why does it take a death for it to be "safe" now???
And radio DJ's that wouldnt touch his work for similar reasons but now play it all day and all night..
It's also odd the way people feel this repulsive need to put a boot in on the internet - such as in online games or forums like this/fb - making MJ "jokes" or kill macro's and racist comments about him on YouTube clips.. really.
Is it really necessary?
