If Metallica sounded like this, I'd never listen to them, ever. I'm just glad that they don't sound like this.

I believe it is Hetfield's voice, just put through a synthesizer.

Well I believe they did make it sound like crap by synthesizing it.
That's not how it sounds in its original form. If it came out of Hetfield's mouth that way, I'd not listen to their music anymore.
I don't care if people consider Metallica to be sellouts either. I like both the old songs and the newer ones, in fact they sound quite similar to me in alot of ways. It's about the content. I could care less who sings or plays what, as long as it sounds good.

Ditto on all counts, they did ruin it and i like all of Metallica's stuff. I got no problem with them being 'sell-outs' either, if they are that is. I just think they took a different direction with their music personally when they began working with Bob Rock on the Black album but that's evolution!

That song is crap but I feel better knowing that Metallica are half to blame for that. Pendulum make decent songs if you're into electronic music at all.

Unable to listen at the moment, as everyone's asleep but I do like Pendulum, was pretty obsessed with Slam at one point.

Why is it that even when they're covering another song, Pendulum manage to make all their drum lines sound exactly the same?

Lol, good observation. I guess it's just a result of artist's consistant art style. And not just in music either - look on this site, for example, and notice how many prominent artists of the community have similar looking graphics to their work/pictures. Same with film directors whose films 'feel' similar everytime.

Good point, Mark. Although most musical artists manage to convey the same style without simply reusing the same beat. I mean most QOTSA songs can be identified as them from their style, same with Placebo, Muse, and heaps of others.

Don't get me wrong I like Pendulum to an extent, it's just the "Pendulum Drum Beat" has become something of a running joke amongst me and my mates. One of them is doing music tech at Uni which doesn't help matters. x)
