Artist one: system art.
Artist two: most other art.
Secondary programmer: for doing the things in programming that don't register in my brain.
Sound guy: for doing a bit of the sound scheme.
That's not an operating system. That's a GUI interface that will run on top of windows perfectly fine GUI interface. Wasting both ram and processing power.

I think you might be confused. It won't just be a GUI interface. It'll be a real OS with its own programs, system scheme and other things. And if you're not here for a job, then leave. >_<

It will be made to replace Windows in some ways; not just run on top of it. It will have several things that Windows does not.
If it needs windows to run, it is not an operating system.

Um, NO, it doesn't need Windows to run on, didn't I say that on the project page that it had an autostartup thingy? Or did you just skip the project page and come here to have a laugh? Gawd.
yeah i read your project, guess what MMF2 needs to run in, Windows. It doesn't matter if it starts up automatically, it is still running on top of windows.

Well, maybe I won't do compatibility, then. That won't stop me from doing the OS though. And I can make my own programming language for it, too. So, as I get back to the topic, do you or do you not want a job?!?

And guess what - it will start up when the system starts up! Is that on top of Windows?!?
Yes, it is on top of windows if it runs on startup. If it requires the Windows API, as MMF2 apps do to run, it is by definition running on top of windows.
However, that is beside the point, since this is a request for help, not ridicule. Let's get back on topic, eh?

You save lives, OldManClayton. Say... >_< I look like too much of a big ruddy fool already, but... Do you want a job in this? Because I'll more than happily give one to you. And running on the very most basic parts of windows is OK.
If you have an issue with programming certain aspects you can ask me and/or the other members for help. However, I don't have the art skills you have in mind and I don't have time to be involved in another person's project full time.
I also have had my fair share of FauxS's.
But feel free to post in the forum if you run into trouble!

Nah, I don't expect you to do art. I just want you to take the other programmer job, about 20% of the programming.
Three things. One, use the edit button instead of double-posting. Two, be nice to and patient with people if you want them to help. Three, try to find some pizzazz to add to the project page to make people interested! Sample work, mockups, etc.
How about your make a game instead of another form of explorer. No one is going to use this on-top of Windows. Hell, people already complain about how much resources windows uses by itself. If you're really that confident you can take on a project like this, how about you take that knowledge and make something you'll be respected for.
PS: This post is not intended to be taken offensively. It's a suggestion and advice post.
You know I was at one time making something like this for kids, so that they could use the computer without messing it up.
If you could turn this into somthing like that it might actually be useful. Also no one hates you they are speaking from experience.

Ha ha, maybe! Mail me and we can talk about that and maybe work on it...

You're 10... and you want to make a whole operating system?

I think you should show something that you have made so far to get people interested. No one will take you seriously if you can't show that you actually know what you are doing. (Not meaning to sound harsh but most likely came off that way) Just post a demo or something for people to try.

You can't create an operating system, that much I'm entirely positive about. An operating system is a piece of software that works off the basis of pure hardware binary code. It takes and encodes information that hardware can understands, and decodes information hardware provides back. It's more than just some console for a computer, it's actually the tool used to control the functions of the computer itself.
Right now, all you're creating is another form of Explorer, which is a built in tool running on Windows. Explorer is what controls windows, folders, the start menu, taskbar, pretty much everything you see on the screen. Want to see for yourself? Press Alt + Ctrl + Delete, go to the Processes tab, and find Explorer.EXE. Select it and end it. It wont screw up your PC, but it'll give you a pretty solid idea as to what you're trying to create here. You're not making an operating system, you're attempting to make a type of Explorer, which still wont get you much respect, because everyone is fine with Explorer and yours, I'm sorry, will not be anywhere near as good.
UG. Windows explore was made by professionals using a real programming language. MMF2 is great and all, but it is not nearly as efficient, so even if you were the best mmf2 user out there, windows explore would still be much much better.
rofl what an ass, if he's trying to get people to like him through his new account then he's failing miserably.
He sounds more like tdc's brand new pinata.
I don't understand why people can't just learn from what people say to them. They hear something they don't like, they get horribly offended and start trying to impress absolutely everyone, and when that fails they start crying about how everyone hates them. Everything said on this website should be taken with a pinch of salt; if you hear from the majority they don't think your idea is good, you can still do whatever you want, but don't expect a great response when you've been told why your idea is not going to impress or entertain anyone here. I won't point fingers, but if someone so chooses to 'leave' and 'return' with a new account and new identity, that's not solving anything, is it? It's just the same process over again under a new name, rather than just having a bit of humility and listening to the seasoned TDC members who know what they are talking about and have seen things like this again and again.
In any case, let's not try to discourage newer members but to guide them constructively. And on the flip side, newer members should really just listen and remember, you can do whatever you want and no one will stop you, but you can never and will never please everyone in a community, let alone a group of 10 people.
Smart post. I agree with you, why can't people listen? And back onto the topic, it is impossible to make a real "OS". A play OS? Maybe. A real one can't be done. I've even tried it once, but all I got was a mound of crap. Sorry to disappoint you, but NO. Two large, solid, capital letters: NO.
Just face it and stop being a jerk.

...Crap, I give up, just delete... Whatever the account's name is and I'll carry on with games so I don't get into another argument over something stupid... M'kay?
Unshakable believer that the egg came first and the tomato is a fruit.
if I were you I wouldn't worry much about that, in a few days or even less nobody will even remember you or what happened.
It's one of the best qualities of this community, they don't give a damn if you fuck up, at least not for long.
