On the PSP I'm playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.
On the DS I'm playing GTA Chinatown Wars and Pokemon Pearl.
On the 360 I'm playing Gears of War co-op with teh girlfrienz. Gonna hunt down Rock Band 2 for summer fun too.
But it's not much compared to the time I put into L4D on the PC.
I've been getting through Gyakuten Kenji and Chrono Trigger on DS. Also, just got a second hand PS2 so I'm catching up on a lot of old stuff. Okami, Black, Shadow of the Colossus, God of War, and other games everyone else played years ago.
I'm not really... playing anything right now. My laptop is the only computer I have (SHOCK AND HORROR) and it can't play any 3D games. I have a few Wii games I could be playing but I just haven't got around to it. I don't really play as much as I used to. OOO
playstation 2. finished up shadow of the colossus awhile back. playing BLACK now. trying to get my hands on a copy of ICO. gonna play killzone next. then okami. maybe some dmc dmc2 and dmc3. ps2 is by far the best console still.
I've always been a bigger fan of the Gamecube catalogue, but I own a PS2 for the few titles I wanted that were not on both platforms. (The PS2's library is unrivalled in size, I just don't prefer quite a bit of the games included in that. )
the gamecube had fewer great games imo. if they were cross platform they were probably better on xbox and ps2. mario, zelda, metroid. pretty much the only games worth playing with a few others. i have a list of like 30+ games i still need to play for ps2. then when im dont its on to dreamcast. then to gamecube. then xbox. n64. ps1. snes. etc.
i never buy into current/"nextgen" consoles. especially since i can get more/better games for the old gen waaayyy cheaper and have more fun.
I was more a fan of the GC library too. But I'm a fan of Zelda, Smash Bros, F-Zero, Metroid and all that.
But there was even less games on the Xbox or PS2 that I liked. I only wanted 4 games on the Xbox (Halo 1, Panzer Dragoon, Shemnue, Serious Sam) and only a couple on the PS2. Guess nothing really grabbed me last gen.
The library of games on the Xbox and Playstation 2 were more geared towards serious gamers. Gamecube and Saturn were more about their loving mascots which was a huge appeal for the niche they both carved out since the beginning. Remember, this was Sony's second entry and Microsofts first entry into the field.

You can hardly say that. Mascots may have been a plus for the Gamecube but I genuinely liked the games more, and not just Nintendo titles. A lot of titles were aimed at different audiences but one is not necessarily more serious than the other.
I was also always a fan of the ergonomic Gamecube controller. The PS2 controller is nice, but there's just something about the button setup on the GC.
Hmm, i see both sides of the arguement, though i still feel the PS2 edged it. Yes there was defo more titles, including a hell of alot more throw-aways and shovelware, however there were still more titles worth owning then on the XBox and Gamecube. The console's life span also eclipsed both its rivals. I can also see where BrandonC's coming from with Nintendo and SEGA's mascot approach; many of the better games on the Gamecube, for example, included or as based around Mario, Donkey Kong, Link etc. Sony hardly fell back on Crash Bandicoot (and bloody good job too!)
Let's be honest though, all of last generation's consoles were worth having, and still are.
I'd say the long running mascots are more geared towards long running gamers, I was brought up on Mario and Sonic and pals (urgh, Sonics recent pals) so I'm more inclined to lean towards that kind of stuff. So long as the game is good. I mean no Mario and Sonic at the Olympics . These modern games - whilst a few of them are good - just feel like 1 or 2 hit wonders that'll vanish soon enough.
PS3: Don't play it a lot but when I did, Metal Gear Solid 4
Wii: Boom Blox 2-player with my girlfriend / Animal Crossing: Lets Go To The City
PC: General klik games - Tops The Pig 2 Remake, Super Claire World Cockatiel Chaos / Zone Runner 1 and Mr Stump's Dentures. Yes, I'm that sad.
Xbox: Hardly touch it these days, but when I do its only to play Sonic: Mega Collection
GameCube: Currently residing at my girlfriends place and used for sessions of Mario Party 5, though not as frequently now.
As for this debate, well... I absolutely hate the Gamecube for its controller when playing FPS games, the C-stick is too loose and wobbly. It ruined Timesplitters 2 for me, and XIII, so got both on the Xbox and they were much better. I don't care about mascots, as long as a game is fun to play thats all that matters. That said, I have about 80 Xbox360 games, 20 odd Wii games and 7 PS3 games. Nothing really strikes me on the system and when a game is mulitformat I generally choose the 360 version for the achievements. Yes the PS3 has trophies but they really haven't taken off in the same way as the Achievements - in fact, Sony blatantly ripped off the idea because they felt threatened by it. I guess my favourite consoles are the 360, and... the Nintendo 64! I loved Perfect Dark and now its coming to Xbox Live, after Modern Warfare 2 I'm really looking forward to that - but nothing else stands out this year.
I wasn't interested in games for a while, so I skipped the last generation. I just recently got a PS2 and I've been catching up on those games now. Honestly, I thought I was only going to buy Parappa 2 and Shadow of the Colossus. The PS2 is still incredibly popular in Japan and new games are being released all the time. Back when the PS3 was almost released I remember reading an article about how their biggest competitor is actually the PS2, and I can believe that.
I don't own any new consoles, except for our new-ish PC (should last a while, quad core, 6 gig o' RAM and a great dx10 card, most intensive game on it so far is Crysis, and it runs like a dream)
Nothing that comes out on consoles looks interesting enough for me

I was actually thinking about the first parrapa today \ / A Wii version would be awesome (even though Sony originally published it ) with movement controls \ /

Well atm I'm playing my good old PS2. Granted I'm playing PS1 games on it aswell (like Wild Arms, Rapid Reload, Wip3out SE, Wip3out 2097) but mainly playing MGS2 and 3.
Xbox360 is my new console, but I got bored of GTV IV and Fallout3. Although I just finished playing Silent Hill Homecoming and I was quite suprised that it wasnt all that bad.
Also at the moment though I'm playing my Saturn and Mega Drive for those old shooty styled games
PC - Recently started replaying Cave Story... trying different endings. I'm never really in the mood for a high-quality 3D game .
Also playing various games I find by accident. It just sort of happens.
DS - Well.. nothing atm because we were robbed a couple weeks back and it's been stolen. Lucky they caught the robbers in the act, we got everything back without damage; except my DS, but I'll be replacing that soon. I was playing Mario DS and Mario Kart though.
The main thing I play games on now is my iPod Touch
Playing:
- Rolando/Rolando 2
- Jelly Car
- Fastlane Streetracing
- Worms
- iCopter
- Myst
- I also bought iControl for Game, just to see what it was like. I installed the software on my PC and now I can play PC games using the tilt-control and touchpad of my iPod through wireless connection. Quite entertaining.
- Platypus (good side-scrolling shooter)
- Blocked (quick puzzle to pass the time)
I recently got some games: Shadow of the colossus, metroid prime, super smash bros brawl and some others.
But I really haven't been bothered to play them much :/
I love the games, but I just can't sit down with them, if I was younger I probably would enjoy them more.
Although I have been trying to get into StarCraft lately, but I keep losing every match..
I haven't really been interested in the Wii besides the occasional SSBB match with my little brother or a MKWii race here and there. I tried to get into Sonic Unleashed, but I can't finish it for those danged Werehog levels.
The PS2, I've been playing Rock Band a lot. (I had some good progress, but then the memory card got ruined, so I just use the unlock everything cheat.) We also have Sly 2 out on rental, and I have the other two, (got them for Christmas a couple of years ago) but I haven't played them much since 100%ing all of them. (2 was definitely the easiet to do, followed by 1. 3 had some really hard challenges.)
I was trying to get into the Prinny rental my little brother had out, but that game felt like an unpolished beta game running in molasses, so we sent it back. Our PSP's currently sitting, waiting for a new charger. After that, we plan to buy a 2-4GB memory stick and download FF7 from PSN, and then I'll wait for LBP Portable.
I don't use my DS Lite much, but I do play the occasional SA2 or Chu Chu Rocket on it. I'll also sometimes play some GH:OTD or a little bit of Sonic Chronicles. (That game was fun, but didn't feel professional to me.)
Our PC's been host to my projects, along with the occasional Hatman or something. I have an uninstalled copy of Hexic I got from Big Lots, and a copy of Psychonauts (Also from Big Lots. That thing comes on 5 CD-roms.) I use my mom's laptop very occasionally for a game of Crash Day here and there, because our computer doesn't have the graphics card for it. (From guess where. That games actually pretty fun.)
Well, I play my Wii for SSBB and Mario Kart. I also play my DS. Lately, I haven't played my ps3 as much. I really like to play TDC games on my PC. I'm too tired to write well today.
If we're counting PC's too...
I play my PC games on my 2006 iMac (2ghz C2D, 3gb DDR2 ram, x1600), everythings good except that graphics card. Sometimes use my 2008 Macbook (2ghz C2D, 2gb DDR3 ram, 9400M) but I don't like running games off a laptop.
Just built a new gaming PC for the Study (2.8ghz AMD thingy, 4gb DDR2 ram, nVidia 4670) it's a midi beast for the games I play but its wired up to crappy speakers, crappy monitor and bog standard keyboard and mouse.
So none of the machines are perfect

DS, currently to play ff4 on
I sold all of my DS games but kept FF4, probably one of the few good games on the DS.
Alastair what a statement to make. The DS has some amazing games, most of my favourites infact.

I wasn't too keen on the DS, I've had one but there was only a few games I really enjoyed like Megaman ZX, Sonic Rush, Mario Kart, Bangai-O Spirits and Contra 4.
I far like my PSP more, WipEout Pure + Pulse = Yes please yum yum. Ratchet and Clank = Yes Please. GTA Liberty/Vice Stories = Yes Please. FF1+2 = Yes Please. Megaman Powered Up and Marverick Hunter = Yes Please. Xyanide Resurrection = Yes Please. MGS portable ops. = Yes please. Crash 1-3 PSX = Yes Please.
Lol, plus you can mod up your PSP (granted you can do that to your DS, how I was able to play Contra 4 over 'ere). I also use my PSP as a mp3 player, granted I've been playing less games on it now because I've been spending more time on my laptop but I'll be going back to it soon I can just tell.
(Not saying the DS is a bad console, I just like the PSP far far more.)
