What other programs are there for it? haha.
I know there Multimedia Fustion, Construct, Game Maker.
What else is there?
I still want to start learning a language but I cant figure anything out when I download it.
Is there a Program I can use that might use a language like Lua or something easy?
But easy to start off with?

I just kind of want to try something new, but can't find out where to start.

I've got an extreme case of deja vu here. I thought you already asked this? O_o If you want to learn a language go with C++. (I'd actually do C# instead but I'd be killed for saying that.) XNA is compatible with C#. Or you could try darkBASIC. On the non-language front are tools like Torque and Unity. Just google them. They'll all have a learning curve, though, so jump for one that you can use in the real field (if that's where you're planning on going). Otherwise just stick with MMF2. It's really not worth looking for years on end just for the sake of "trying something else."

Its not really about the language, more about the program.
I don't know where to start though.. You know?
I did ask before but, I don't know, I thought I should try again.

Like is there a MMF of another language? If that makes sense?
Something that has a level editor you just have to type in the code?

How exactly does it work?

Unity doesn't use its own language, but can't you use lots of other languages like Java, C+ etc?

Personally if I was just coming into this I'd go for TGF1 and move onto something that is constantly evolving like Unity.

RPGMaker and AGS. Nothing much otherwise.

Hmm, Its pretty limited huh?
I use Clickteam products put I just wanted to try something different.
RPGmaker is fun to play around with sometimes, and I don't know what unity is, I think I might take a look at that.

There are actually loads more than you think - google for "2d game engine" or something like that, and you'll find heaps of them. Some will require a bit of programming knowledge, but not all.

These two are quite similar to MMF, in that they have the graphical point and click interface, but they're both a lot more basic:

Unfortunately, certain things that are easy to do in MMF, tend to be very complicated in other programs(?) - such as creating GUIs, pixel-perfect collision detection, etc.
Plus, if you're making a very simple game (as most click games tend to be), it will probably be quicker to make in MMF.

That's a 'problem' that I find when trying to learn other languages. I think to myself that I would like to learn another language to make games in, and then once I get started, all I can think about is how much faster I can make it in MMF.

why reinvent the wheel,

there is no reason to make something in another program if it can be easily done in mmf. Leave the other programming languages to low-level tasks like viruses.

What if you want to make an Xbox 360 game? What if you want your program to run on anything other than windows? What if... I got nothing. WAIT!!! What about for the Wii or PS3? Or have an epic 3D adventure like... Still got nothing... BUT there are some perks that come with learning a new language. I like XNA personally. It's not that hard to learn (for me).

MMF costs money.
Haha that's it really, I don't have the money to buy MMF. If I really wanted I could download a cracked version of it, but thats illegal, and I don't want to get in trouble of any kind.

Construct is a free alternative, but is buggy. I'm just trying to find a way to make games, its what I love doing. Thats why I started the topic, and I heard that Lua is an easy language to learn.


Like I said, any help is welcome.

The main reason I still use MMF is because it's very powerful when combined with Lua. On it's own, it's tedious to work with. I don't know if TGF allows the extension, but without the Lua extension, or even Text Blitter, I don't think it's worth it.
