It's good but I don't think anyone would say it's exceptional. It's had it's fair share of additions over the years and frankly I think it's kind of starting to weigh down on itself. I'm on 1440x900 the menu bar text still extends into TDC arcade text. I feel bad for people on even lower resolutions trying to jump around the site.
Club must have worked bloody hard to get the site where it is today (thanx Club!), though i can't help but think it looks dated now. Though we've had this discussion again - i don't want to bash this place more than is justified!
It's unfortunate that the internet has set the bar so high for website design that clubsoft and the other very respected and hard working site coders who dedicate their free time to help the site out, are kind of undermined by the outcome of their work. Mainly because the site does feel very dated, especially by Web 2.0 standards.
I think I speak for a lot of people on the site whenever I say, I would love to see a much more modern website design, however in the same respect I feel guilty for expecting so much from people who are already going above and beyond what they have to do.
It's sort of like begging Clickteam to make MMF2 a lot bigger and better so it can compete with the market today of much larger more mainstream programs, meanwhile trying to understand the size of their team and feeling like you have no right making demands.
Being an old fart I like the kind of outdated feel of this site. I have always liked the interface and after 8 years I am so used to it I can't imagine a different interface. If just that ugly arcade thing wasn't there
TBH, I personally don't like it that much. It's not the prettiest in the world.. we just kept adding more and more stuff on it, and it's become a little cluttered. It's sort of like my bedroom after a few years. Familiar, a little messy and dusty, but sorted nicely. Actually, it's more of the new additions that don't look good. Forum signatures look weird, those stars are a bit ugly, colors don't go together so well. I mean we could go up and spring clean the place, but there's no reason to, it's still fun.
Heh, I'm of the school of thought that if someone sets a higher bar, you should move up and reach that bar. Not really necessary here.. TDC's design isn't ugly and it's functional. I can get to most pages I want with just 2-3 clicks. That's what I want out of a website. I hate sites that are pretty but slow to navigate or shiny but have no content.
So, IMHO, it's messy, but good.
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
I think it could do with a bit of a redisgn but I couldn't say where to start. Like most have said the design hasn't changed that much over the years and I think for that reason a redesign would be a good idea. that's just me though!
Its been sometime i've been visiting this site everyday, and i got used to it, i mean, its good and easy to navigate, thats simple enough for me, and i like it.
