FAIND, Smeby, 'The Games Factory', Phizzy, Eternal Daughter being mentioned every other day, GOTM and Klik Academy and playing the hell out of Jonny RPG.
But yeah, most of all this. I think this is our biggest loss. Andy's idea was pretty excellent, shame it didn't completely take off but I enjoyed the enthusiasm it generated.
I remember when online games like Super Ken Senshi were released and reminded us how closely knit the community was, instead of how broadly spread thin we've become. The good days where a good online game was packed full of people online from the entire community, all playing and commenting about how much fun they had playing the game with one another. It was a real inspiration. Now an online game gets released and goes 2 weeks without a single comment.
Okay, so we form a click group that designs and makes a fantastic online game. Then we advertise it like nuts. A specific "get online" day. Jon Lambert and a few other members were working on a TDC Community project. We could pull that project page back out.
Yeh it was Joe. Sometimes he went by the name Mighty Guy.
I don't see much of him anymore. We went to the same college and got on the same bus, but after we went to university I've only spoken to him two or three times and not seen him at all. I gather he's got a child now. Funnily enough, he called it Mitch.

There's a solution to this, start commenting on games. If everyone who complains about not getting comments starts commenting on everyone eles's work, then maybe it'd be less of an issue. You can complain all you want about not having comments, but if you haven't taken the time to comment on anyone else, then that kind of makes it a bit hippocritical. I'm not singleing you out or trying to insult you, I'm speaking more of a general statement.
With that said, maybe someone should make a tribute video to the old days. I'd offer to do it, but I don't know you strange people or your ways.

now on the Xbox Live Marketplace!
With flash, there are loads of sites to get comments on. Kongregate, newgrounds, etc... TDC and game builder are no longer necessary, but still nice to have.
That was not the point of the community sites anyway IMHO. The community sites are for making games in a community and therefore TDC, Gamebuilder et al are still needed
If all I wanted to do was showcase my stuff, I could do that with my website.
Just remembered Smegsoft - he was awesome, hosted my site until his server went down . Also Smeby - what has happened to him? Muggus and some others of which I can not remember the names...

Just did a quick search and I had to resurrect this ancient thread, sorry. Isn't it nice, the kind of stuff people can get away with making up about you when you're not around to contest it? Found a lot of similar stuff written by this guy, whoever he was.

OMG, It's Phizzy!! Stop the Press, the prodigal son has returned.
How are you? I'm prety sure you will remember Ski if you think hard enough. The two of you used to have epic arguments. He used to go by Adam before changing it to Adamski then finally Ski.

This was Adam, then? Yeah, last time I got my account reinstated he sent messages to all the admins, telling them I was sending him loads of harassment via DC mail and I was immediately banned again. I can't imagine why I'd do that. Ridiculous that they'd believe it. Insane that there was (is?) still no way of giving admins access to your mail as proof. I gave up on TDC after that. I only came back to see if my old account could be deleted properly. Was searching for my name to make backups of my old content.
@Phizzy: I think I may have copies of plastic pig racer, cannon ball man and pancake boy Phizzy, but I would guess you already have copies of those. Nothing shows up for your account by the way, but the content seems to still be about TDC.
Yeah, I have all my old stuff, I just wanted the download pages with descriptions, comments and all that. My account was deleted, just none of the stuff I submitted.
Andy, I'm sure it is. I can't imagine why anyone would go out of their way to keep people away with the current state of the site, though.
I find it quite sad what has happened to the click community. I guess it is a mixture of getting older, having families, jobs and more responsibilities. Clickteam, in my opinion, have been pretty useless in bringing new clickers in to replace us old farts. The humble bundle was a good move, but I fear it maybe too little too late, especially given all the alternatives a budding game maker has these days. I remember getting KNP (PC Planet) and TGF1 pro for free on magazines.
The indie scene in my opinion has also had a significant impact on people making games for "shits and giggles". I have no problem with people selling games, but I miss the days where the majority of us was in for the fun and learning aspect. Seems less and less make games these days without considering commercialisation, which has pushed such people into a more isolated hobby. Pretty much all of the old Hagar games were an "inside" piss take of some sort, generally that was enough motivation to make such half baked atrocities .
I think the era where we had copious amounts of time to waste for fun has sadly passed (read as school, college and undergraduate days).
I agree hagar. I think the tools getting more powerful had something to do with it too though.
KNP had such high restrictions and lack of features that it actually drove creativity in the community to work around it's limitations. The first scrolling games come to mind.
Sadly KNP doesn't run so well on newer machines. It would be nice if someone could do a remake of it, bugs and all.
But I don't think it's just this site. 5+ years ago I was on a few other forums and this quietening down happened there too, I think in general there has been a loss of community and I think it's social networking that did it. I miss the days where we'd have threads just for pictures taken outside your window, that kind of thing! The internets all different now.
I feel like this is a Twilight Zone type scenario where the survivors of the apocalypse are gathered in the last shelter on earth.
Let's see...
-Phizzy
-Ashman.
-EvilKitty (GameMine)
-That guy who created a series of really shitty games called "Going Bananas"
-The Johnny Comics RPG was great. I know he's still around.
-Snerlin of Neoair
-Craig from VirtuallyReal. I was a huge In The Pit fan, it's what got me into Klik.
-Peanut the Penguin. Another one I loved before I knew what good games were.
-Clickzine. Lololol
I don't know, there's other things.

Felt like visiting again after I don't know how many years. In the meantime, built my own company from scratch, hired great people, got a publisher, presented my game to the likes of ign and pc gamer in san francisco at GDC last year and I feel like I owe a bit of that to TDC.
Stopping by and remembering some of you made me look back at the kid with a dream I was, how far I've come since then and how lucky I got and specially, made me look into the role this site and this community played in my life and career.

That is so great to hear Joe, that means a lot! Every time I see some of the old folks from the site doing well it honestly makes my day and I am so happy for them. It is so great to see

But hell I've still never finished anything.
