I've not shaved for over a week now and i'm not due back to work until 3rd August. Sonisphere festival is next weekend too, so i may style it somehow for that. I like my face shaved and smooth and looking suave, but i also like to not give a crap about shaving and forget about it for a week or three - it makes me feel like a big man.

Okay...

Personally, I think it's disgraceful that in this day and age, men can't have a bit of facial hair without being deemed scruffy and unprofessional, and that employers are still able to discriminate on such grounds.

The whole Adrian Chiles thing showed that a lot of people agree.

The fact is, some guys (myself included) just don't suit the clean-shaven look, and while I'm never going to be Brad Pitt, I believe I should have the right to do the best I can to make myself look good.
As it happens, I've never had the kind of job where presentation was an issue at all, so I can get away with a more casual (I guess you'd call it "surfer") style.

I can't have too much facial hair because it makes my chin really itchy. But I'm rarely totally clean shaven due to laziness.

My face was just fine when my facial hair was growing for the first time, but ever since I had to shave it for my job, it gets itchy whenever it grows too long, which takes about two days.

I barely grow any facial hair basically due to my half-asian genes, but I still shave every day with an electric shaver. I couldn't grow decent stubble, let alone a beard if I wanted to.

Yeah I shave before every shower. It would be too wet for me after a shower to use an electric effectively.

I think i may go for a handle-bar moustache next week, when i do get round to shaving. And for the record, i also add it to my pre-shower routine, using a Gillete Mach-3 Turbo, as the water helps wash away the blood when i cut myself. That's also why i don't do it after the shower.

I shaved today after my shower. I honestly dont know how guys cut themselves, Ive been shaving since I was 15-16 (now 24) and have never cut myself. Something that Im quite proud of but also confused as to how it's done, it seems quite simple to me that you dont apply too much pressure and you'll be ok.

I usually cut myself when shaving because my facial hair is so god damn bad-ass.

Seriously I never look clean shaven - even with the use of Gillette Mach 3 Fusion Power! I do try though.

Ive tried on several occasions to grow a beard but when it gets long it gets all gross and curly. It looks like pubic hair so i shave it off.

I never bother shaving now, my face feels really sore and itchy whenever I do it, so I just let the hair grow and cut it with scissors if it gets too long. Mine too has got that slightly pube-esque look, and it's also a bit ginger, but it's either that or redface for days on end.

I generally use an electric razor cos I'm lazy, but I look a hell of a lot younger clean shaven. I prefer to look like the near-27 year old that I am. I haven't shaved for 3 days now and already am very "whiskery".

Also I want to grow a proper beard but my partner insists I'm clean-shaven as much as possible... she doesn't like kissing a coconut apparently.

Beards are also beneficial if you're hungry and need a snack. I've delved into mine in the past and found bits of biscuit and crisps that are a couple of days old

It's entirely possible to cut yourself if you have dark hair like me and want to be completely clean shaven, Softly softly just isn't enough.
There isn't much point in being totally clean shaven in my case anyway. Give it 3 hours or so and i get noticable stubble appear...

I don't know how i cut during a shave, though i suppose if i did it after a shower, i.e. after my skin has had a good soak and is more suptle and cleaner, as well as the stubble being soaked and easier to cut through, then maybe i wouldn't bleed. Also, because i am so god damn hard i don't use proper shaving soaps and gels when shaving, i use good old water and a bar of soap.

Just to be clear though, they are more knicks than gashes in my face/neck and i'm not losing pints of blood each time. I'm sure this is the same for the other "bleeders"

The thing with shaving after the shower is that the bathroom mirror is steamed up and you can't see yourself.

Hahaha, not sure this is the site to talking about that on!

However, i do always shave this little section above my right knee. I can't remember why i ever did it the first time, it's only about 15mm x 35mm but ever since i did (must have been years and years ago) every girlfriend i've had has seen it and said "why the hell do you do that?", to which i reply "it just doesn't grow there!"

I guess it's just another random quirk that helps add to the (little) appeal i have!

I don't do well clean shaven. My facial hair grows back in like 8 hours. I look better with short facial hair than clean shaven anyway, so I can't imagine a job that'd force me to shave.

I had a theory about academia and beards. Professors always have gnalry beards, therefore the amount of facial hair is directly proportional to your status in academia. Or is it the other way around? Hmm!

Hehe...I can assure you, I am not academic in anyway

Come to think of it, the picture I drew might be skewing the truth a little. It looks fuller than it is. In reality, the beard going from my ears to my chin isn't much wider than a finger.. oh well, not that it matters

I like to say that i'm compensating for my loss of hair. I used to have hair down to the lower part of my shoulder blades. Then i got older and started to get thin hair which made long hair not look very fancy..so instead of hair on the top of my head, I grow my hair on the bottom of my head instead

I pretty much never shave to purposely look scruffy, but then shaving is the least of my problems when trying to look proffesional considering i've nearly got 2 full sleeves tattood.

As for shaving "down there", i've done it a few times for the Mrs, but never again, its just not worth the itchyness.

I am clean shaven now. I didn't shave for 3 weeks, but I went running today and for the first time in my life experienced something called A SWEATY BEARD. Really dudes, avoid this.

DOS shaving is far better than Windows shaving.

Sweaty beards must also be avoided at all costs, especially in Windows.
