So I just finished the original super mario land from the original Gameboy bought it from the virtual shop on my 3ds, and well it seems a lot easier then i remembered as a kid. Took me about 30-45 min to finish? I never finished it as a kid.
And in the end mario flies off in a spaceship? Anyone else replayed this game recently?
I am left feeling a bit disappointed, lol
Oh well I hear Super mario world 2, the golden coins is now out to, might give that a whirl.

Geez, that was probably the first game I ever owned, if I recall correctly it came with the original, brick-like, gameboy. Great little game, it is indeed short but believe me back then I wish it was shorter. I remember rushing through the levels as quick as I could, trying to finish the game before I ran out of batteries. Good times.
Not true urbanmonk. You can easily beat super Mario land in three hours, regular and hard mode. I own it on 3ds and on gameboy and enjoy it. I have played through the second one twice and enjoy that one as well. It's a much longer game, and probably more to your taste Rikus.
just out of curiosity because i just recently bought a 3ds... how do you put money on it (or whatever). cuz on the wii you had to buy the cards, buti looked at wallmart and found nothing of the sort for the 3ds. theres a few things id like to get from the shop myself. also... (off subject) totally stoked about luigi's mansion 2
[Game design makes my brain feel like its gonna explode.]
When i buy a game it asks me how i want to pay for it including credit cards. I am pretty sure the regular cards you buy in the shops are available for 3ds also.

I have a 3ds and the battery never lasts much time for me. I only own zelda, and whatever those free games were.
Zelda four swords is free now too, so I need to go download that.
everyone i know who got a 3ds is just using it to play old gb games so it seems to me the best 3ds games are gb games so far. also love all that virtual console stuff. lets just milk a dead cow over and over again.
many many many many many years after roms and emulations big companies were like: oh people still like our old games so lets just bring out our own emulator and let people pay for the roms after eons. i think maybe a bunch of money for super old roms is quite a rip off and just goes to show that a bunch of new games just stink.
Yeah It's pretty easy. Did you play through the game again afterwards Rikus? It's harder than the first time. Then you get a level select mode. But that just what gameboy games were supposed to be. Short pocket sized fun.
Super marioland 2 is a lot bigger and actually plays different from any other mario game. It's a lot more floaty, the graphics are huge and it's really easy up until the very last level which has a HUGE spike in difficulty. You can save of course.
Related note. I totally beat Mega Man In Dr. Wily's Revenge the other day. Full way through after not playing it for 10 years...58 minutes. I was kind of surprised, but then again, that was one of the games I mastered as a kid. Until the other MM gameboy games came along (I missed 3).
Mario Land 2 took me a while to beat from what I remember. I beat Mario Land 3 in a few hours. That was a huge disappointment for me.
Final Fantasty Adventure would be a great VC release, but Square will never let that happen when they can update it, make it terrible, and release it at full price (again).
