I don't know why I even bother with Clickteam's support forums and Gwerdy/ClickConverse anymore when I'm having issues in MMF2. Most any time I log on with a question about event scripting using an extension I know will work, I get pointed at some other extension that works just as well but would require me having to rewrite my whole app. No step-by-step directions. No links to examples or tutorials. No attempt to explain how the new extension will make the event scripting easier or solve my specific problem. How is that helpful? It isn't, especially considering it's likely I'll still get hung up and have to ask the exact same question regarding the new extension when I get to the same point in development.
I'm a computer tech, and as a general rule of thumb you don't suggest alternatives before trying to repair the issues at hand. If somebody were infected with malware running under Windows 7, my suggestion would be running antimalware apps and learning how to avoid future malware infection, not reformatting and installing Linux. The same idea should apply when users need help with event scripting. If said extension just won't work, fine; but that's hardly ever the case.
I've seen other users get help in ClickConverse, but they're users that frequent ClickConverse often. I can understand favoritism; there's more motivation to help users you're familiar with than people you don't know or never seen around before, but I feel new users just don't get quality help while seasoned users do. I'd think that works against the interests of ClickTeam, but maybe it isn't an issue.
The rare few times I have gotten help around ClickConverse, it's been by DarkWire. I appreciate his help immensely, but he seems to be the only willing and able person around. Am I wrong in assuming that ClickConverse should be a place to go and ask questions, or am I the one in the wrong?
I just think it's a little sad that I can get far better help on tDC despite having to wait days or weeks for a reply because the forums are nearly dead.

Yeah it is sad.
I usually ask questions on the forums, but most of the time I have to find the answers myself. I just assumed it was because no one there knew the answer. Which is most likely the case because the questions I ask usually require modification of the MMF runtime or something similar.
If you do have questions though feel free to ask here. I usually answer if I see something I can help with.

Depending on what extension you're asking about, it may no longer be supported. The suggestion to move to a newer, more supported extension is reasonable. If after this suggestion you simply leave, feeling unhelped, that is on you. Move the conversation along and state that you cannot move to a new extension. If at that point no one is able to give you help, then by all means continue to look elsewhere for help. So many times have I helped newbies and SEEN newbies being helped. It all depends on the question.
If you are as much a computer tech as you sound, you should be able to help yourself, or use the resources at your disposal to find the help you need. Don't rely on a single location for help, and then bash it for being unhelpful. Most of the things I personally need help with, fall outside the realm that the average or even advanced mmf users can comprehend, as it mostly pertains to actual programming, or theoretical/abstract concepts. I have spent weeks researching things before i get an answer or more often fully understand what I need to know. Have a little patience.
