In regards to the rush discussion, my favorite rush song has to be 'Time Stand Still.'
3 of my favorite musicians died this year actually-
Earl Scruggs was my hero. From his time with Lester Flatt to his band with his kids, Earl was one of the most influential musicians of all time. I started playing 5-string banjo after high school and based my style almost completely after him. Seeing Earl's obituary this year left me almost mortified.
Doc Watson also passed away this year. Without Doc or Earl gone, I really don't know what's left of American folk and Blue Grass music.
And of course, how can we forget Adamn Yach of the Beastie Boys? Aka, MCA. Adam died of a brain tumor this year and was barely able to complete the 'Hot Sauce Committee Part 2' album.
I'll post more later, but I wanted to give a little tribute to some of my favorite musicians I lost this year first.
Then I was in a vast garden
And I cut the tree in the middle
"Tree of the knowledge of good and evil"
Building a vessel that I named "Narrenschiff"
And I sailed through black waves of clotted blood
Closing my eyes...
