I don't want to sound annoying, I am just posting this a general suggestions to improve the site (in my humble opinion). I think it would be nice for the site to notify you if someone comments in a forum you have posted in, or in the comments section of somewhere you have commented, and not just when someone comments on a project that you created. I find it hard to keep track of where I have posted and who has responded to me without something like this . What are the chances of something similar to this being implemented to the site? Is it hard to do?
I have to say I agree. I'm sorry to speak ill of the great thing that is TDC, but as a fellow coder I know how it is to program features like on this site. To be honest I think it would be way cooler if the forum, and maybe even project and downloads, were changing into a premade forum like PHPbb. It's possible to connect the site's database to the forum so it wouldn't be needed to log in twice.
As I said - nothing wrong with the site and its features as such, there's just no beating something like PHPbb.
This is something that will be in the new version of the site, sadly it's taking a long time to get around to doing that due to full time job etc, however I'll see if I can add this feature in to the current version of the site as a stop gap
Although forum notifications would help, I really think the social/news aspect of TDC needs to be moved to Facebook. I want to know when people are adding games, doing reviews, and such. Forum notifications won't do that. I'm not saying that they shouldn't be added, but Facebook would be a great addition.

Some people (like my) have nothing with facebook, so going facebook only might drive out some other clickers too. Which probably is not what you have intended with the idea of going facebook.
Facebook might be beautiful for lots of you, but it's also putting a big facebook wall around other websites which effectively locks out a lot of users which do want to access the content for some reason behind that wall. But they don't think that giving facebook any of their personal information is the way to go.
But if you do want to go facebook, think about the people who just want to have a look without giving up their privacy.
I understand your point, but Facebook is as intrusive, dangerous and evil as you let it be. I respect your stand on FB, but the reality is that it has become the new, streamlined version of the Internet. I have been using computers for thirty years. I remember transferring software on 5 1/4" floppies. I remember going to a BBS to get information, and I remember AOL and Compuserve. This is the new thing, and it excels at bringing people together so that they can share information.
Still, you have a right to be concerned. I have recently limited my FB use to weekends. It sucks up too much time. I've also decided to be cautious about expressing every thought that comes through my head. It's dangerous.

I certainly think there need to be notifications on all the main site areas. At the moment, there are no notifications when someone comments on an article. Quite often, the comments are questions about the article, but by the time you see them, it's too late (most people probably think the author is being rude, assuming they will have received notification of their comment).
I'd also be strongly opposed to any Facebookification of the site. I don't want my actual friends seeing TDC-related stuff, I don't want a ton of Facebook messages and friend requests from randoms on here, etc...
@FB: all right use facebook with caution, but why put a website behind a facebook wall?
Notifications would be nice, but it requires some extra code from our beloved webmasters.
Why not build a front end for website and use a forum software as a backend? Many sites are doing this and it works fine. Most forum software has the features that TDC users want.
