Anyone who votes robot is an unoriginal, non-innovative p <cant say this here> y.
Surely that would depend on what they actually make, rather than how they vote?
Unfortunately, I think the new requirement to use a particular name (in this case "Armored Funk Daredevils") rules out most of the more interesting possibilities, and is likely to result in more generic games.
For example, you could have made something like "The Incredible Machine" or "Incredibots" where the player builds a robot from components; or something where the player programs a robot to perform certain tasks; or all kinds of interesting things - but those aren't going to fit with the stupid name, so you'll end up with just a bunch of platformers.
I don't see the point - it's not going to make the competition any more fun for entrants, and it's not going to make the submitted games any more fun for everyone else to play.
Just my opinion of course...
In all seriousness, there's no reason we can't hold another compo with a different theme, different game title, etc. This is barely a weekend's commitment on a single game idea, for Pete's sake.
We're deliberately keeping requirements low so that anyone who wants to make a game can do it. I don't care if it's default movement engines, ClickTeam MIDI music, or whatever. It's about putting something out there that helps you build your confidence with smaller projects so you can eventually move on to make more (better) games.
If this is beyond you, then I don't know what else to say. We're just working towards building a more supportive environment, particularly for beginners (and novices like myself).
If I were to make a game for it would be something where you build robots, or something.
I'm in the game making mood, but I've got so much school work!
Man i only had a couple of hours to work with, i could not get anything done. Most of that time was just hair pulling anyway since i have never tried anything of the sort. Miniest of minigames but i threw something together, i did not even have time to draw graphics for it! :c
