A bit of piracy; a bit of trading goods between ports - the usual sort of thing...
Actually, I haven't got too much planned yet, beyond the movement & combat systems. Just posting that ship sprite because it took me ages to draw, and I'm pleasantly surprised with how it turned out. Ideally, I'd have lots of different ship types, but I really can't be bothered to draw more than one.
I'm not attempting anything nearly as complicated as Trade Winds or Uncharted Waters, but the basic concept is pretty similar.
@ OMC: Can't say I've ever had any requests for spriting... To be honest, I can't animate, and I can't do people or animals, so I don't think I'd be a lot of use to most people (I'm pretty much limited to planes/trains/automobiles/etc and maybe scenery).
@ S-m-r: The planned movement/combat system is based on 4-directions, so unless that turns out to be a disaster, I won't be drawing the extra 2 directions of animation required.
I asked because a programming friend of mine wants to make a turn-based strategy game, which seems to align well with your strengths. Your Zodiac entry's graphics were great.
Thanks very much. Not sure I'm reliable enough for team work either (I never finish anything), and it's really the coding that I prefer.
As per your suggestion, I've created a project page outlining the planned game mechanics. Feedback is always welcome
