Sup guys, i'm searching on websites to get some advices, cool sprit..-Oh my god look at that !!
http://www.freewebs.com/tiredfreakedoutproductions/METAL%20SLUG%20and%20custom%20SPRITE%20SHEETS/soldiers2pt25lq.png

Seriously, i'm watching this sheet for like 10 mins and i have some questions about pixel art (Keep in mind that i'm bad at spriting so...):
1)Are you able to reproduce something similar ?
2)Do you know the experience of the guy who did that ?
3)How long does it takes to have this level at pixel art (Drawing nice shaded little sprites, to be good at animating)?
4)What's your personnal experience ?
5)What's your personnal opinion of this sprite sheet ?
6)What do you think about google+ ?

So guys thanks for your replies, i really need to get started with pixel art, but everytime i start i see sprites sheets like this and i'm a bit (just a tiny bit) jealous. See you all ! ;D

I think you need to start gaining YOUR experience right now.

Google how to draw pixel art:

https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+draw+pixel+art&oq=how+to+draw+pixel+art&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.7803j0j8&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8

Start drawing.

Post your work here. Ask for feedback.

Keep drawing.

Drawing and animating sprites like that from scratch would require not just a lot of practice, but considerable natural artistic talent as well, imo.
However, that particular spriteset is really just a bunch of ripped Metal Slug sprites that have been recolored and had different helmets added - and anyone could do that without much effort or talent (tbh: the author shouldn't really even be trying to claim any credit).

Personally, I like to think I'm reasonably good at static pixel art, but I suck deeply when it comes to animating, which is why I mostly draw (and make games based on) inanimate objects (tanks/aircraft/spaceships/etc) rather than people/animals.

I think it's possible to improve a lot with practice and learning (so don't be put off!), but to reach a really high standard still requires some natural talent - and some people with a lot of artistic talent seem to be able to produce outstanding pixel art with very little practice (eg. http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=38219.msg989345#msg989345 ).

He's right. This reminds me of a BJJ practitioner that I know. He is talented, but he hates when people call him talented because it devalues the amount of effort that he had to put in to become one of the best on a large scale. Talent will only get you so far without effort. It won't make you the best.

My point is this, you won't know if you're one of the talented ones until you put a few months of effort in, so like I said, get started.
