I really hope not, cause there are not that many MMF2 based communities out there, which is a shame, cause MMF2 is a great program with a lot of potential that is sadly overshadowed by the likes of Game Maker and Unity.
If it weren't for this site and its very helpful community, I would probably never have gotten anywhere with the program on my own.
Thanks to them, I feel more confident in my game making skills.
The site is in the same state it's been for about 8 years. Many people have left the site or moved on to other hobbies and there's a core group of 20(?) people here keeping things going.
Well i am happy to join the community but why is my game not listed in the download-section.
I am not getting any comments about fixing something but it also doesn't show up on the list...
Who is responsible ?
I am pretty big mmf fanboy for over 10 Years... sad i didn't find this site earlier
I got my first start of creating original games here. After I made Wings of Vi, I've moved on to Unity, but I've been using clickteam products all my life and they helped me develop my creative talent without the need for complex coding. I've since studied CS so I know my way around C# and Unity provides great features as well.
Glad to see there are still people checking back on the site; I do too every once in a while. Thanks to everyone who've been contibuting to the site, it's what kept me making games really. <3 Hopefully MMF3 can spruce up the community.
Solgryn, YOU made Wings of Vi? THE Wings of Vi!? THAT AWESOME!! You really have great skill! I played it, but I could not finish it. It is VERY hard! I just went to your site and downloaded a lot of you games. You have sure made a lot!
TO EVERYONE, if we want this site to be less dead, we need to start submitting more game! That DON'T have to be huge! They can be small and simple games! Let's get to it!!
That this is the problem! If no one is approving submitted games, how will new games be added to this site? There is a major project that I have started, but I plan on making some small games. So, if no one is approving new submitted games, this site will stay nearly dead and that will not change until somebody gets back to approving those games. How hard can this be?
It seems pretty dead to me...
I think in its current form, there isn't really any reason for TDC to exist (I don't know how much it's costing to keep it online, or who's paying, but it's probably not worth it at this point).
The official Clickteam forums have become much busier, and are now the place to go for technical / programming help (they used to be deserted).
Nobody is making simple little games any more (everybody seemingly has a big, often commercial, project on the go), so we're not going to see new games being submitted on a regular basis.
For most of the other stuff, there are other general game development sites, such as TigSource.
It would be nice to see the site totally revamped, but that would require someone with a lot of drive, spare time and web development skills, and I don't get the impression anyone is up for that...

Forget MMF3D, Jamagic 2 is what I'm looking forward to!
MMF3 isn't going to be 3D based. Jamagic 2 is our last hope.
The site suffers from low levels of activity because of Clickteam. Why would anyone pay to make a 2D game when there are virtual-reality capable engines that are completely free if you don't plan on selling games?

Because those engines require coding, and we use MMF to avoid that the same as always!
I think enough people still have fun with Click products. I think TDC would come back to life with about 2 new active admins. No use submitting your games when it takes weeks for them to be accepted.
Can't believe people are still talking here, and that i'm still visiting the site for reasons unknown. I've dabbled in the art of kliking since i was 10, went on for a while till 20, studied computer science in college and now i'm close to 30 and managing my own indie game studio. I OWE THIS COMMUNITY FOR MY EXISTENCE.
Heya, we sure do! We are located at http://deltaduckstudios.com/ and is now about a year in development on Monster Chronicles (https://www.facebook.com/monchron/), a minature turn-based strategy RPG of sorts. Details are scarce at the moment but we'll update soon!
I kind of feel like this site could do with some way of more quickly getting posts on the homepage... Like maybe anyone can write them, but they need to be approved by admins, and also, have way more admins...

That would be great! Maybe send him a message on Facebook?
It's another article a bit like the one I wrote on life & death in games (ie. theory-based rather than describing a practical technique), but this time focuses on multifunctionality, and how it can improve your game.
Stuff like that article is why i'm still here. All the members that went inactive. I don't think they realize just how much help a article can be. Better than a new game on the front page. If you ask me.
Still no reply from rikus, either from his email or his facebook.
I guess he's off the grid.
Nice article Sketchy. At least the pictures were nice. I don't have time to read it right now though since I'm currently working on a game project with Clayton, but I'll give it a look tomorrow at work.
Interestingly I made that poll on the right almost exactly 2 years ago.
It's a lot of effort to maintain this site unlike other sites I'm a mod/admin for. The tools are just not there. Also hardly anyone is here and it's pretty demotivating. I can make an announcement on another site and literally thousands of people will acknowledge it and it was far less work to do so.
Also the time required to investigate downloads etc is kind of a pain in the ass.
This site needs a revamp and it needs users. It's one thing to say "If I were an admin I'd do this and this and this", but you'll be burned out in a month... 3 max.
Just my 2 cents as someone who has been on this site since before my official registration in 2002 and at one point was very active in the Community.
Nostalgia is powering it now; nostalgia and stubbornness.
thinking is like pong, it's easy, but you miss sometimes.
I once offered to update/revamp/maintain the website years ago, but no one seemed willing to grant access to the code and/or database. Then it was "updated" and nothing really changed.
I would go so far as to say the entire site needs a complete reset now (oddly enough the last thing I posted about 3 years ago). Just remake the whole bloody thing from scratch.
It saddens me every time I come back to lurk, and see a whole lot of nothing.
I share the sentiment. Most of the once-active members have just moved on to other things. I'd love to be able to consciously block out time to work on a game, but most of it is reserved for Photoshop, composing music, and gardening. Goodness, it's so weird to think that I joined as an uninitiated highschool hyperboob in 2008, and now I've been a registered member for over half of TDC's existence. I'm in college now.
It's hard not to miss the times that this place was more active, having practically grown up with the site and the community. I remember the Arcade, the competitions, and not being able to make games that were remotely fun or well constructed. Having the time to chat with better-minded folks, challenge others on the Arcade, and make those inglorious attempts at games was quite a beautiful thing. The last MMF2 project I started and dropped was last year, after a brief bout of inspiration and nostalgia in which I had forgotten to routinely worry about my finite life.
It's really great to see folks you were familiar with not 5 years ago releasing games on Newgrounds, Steam, Kickstarter, etc. though! Whether or not TDC rebounds, and I hope it does, it has certainly been a launching platform for developers, so it certainly won't be without a legacy. Still, it would be awesome to see a big collaborative effort spearheaded by the community and released on Steam in an effort to bring TDC back in focus. I guess, if there are official plans for something like that, I don't currently mind re-integrating and providing some sprites or composing some music.
Sadly, many people have moved to Construct 2 and Unity. It's not a bad thing but it just made this forum kind of lonely since this used to be the place to discuss MMF and TGF related stuff.
I remember eagerly participating in compos, discussing games and "woah"-ing at every game with cool art style and unique mechanisms on the download page.
I'm not sure if this site should reboot as a global game-dev site or not, but maybe changing the layout and making things easier to manage might help.
As far as I ever knew, this site has never been explicitly about Clickteam products. Maybe it was before my time, but while I was here it was always software agnostic, although primarily about clickteam products. There was always community animosity towards other game making software, but you weren't prohibited from using, posting games, or asking questions, for other software.
It's pretty sad that I do want to make stuff still but at the same time can't be bothered to put the effort in. I think it's related to the slow death of TDC in a way, because the first thing I would do after making a game was to post it here.
I'm not sure there are any other communities out there simply because people don't use forums anymore. They all use Twitter, Facebook and Youtube. etc.
The thing with reddit, is by default its just a plain message board. So yeah, it looks simple (or to some, like garbage). It's up to the maintainers of a subreddit to customize the look and feel. Personally I don't care, it's more about the news and content posted, like rss.
Wow still here, I love this website. I just got clickteam Fusion 2.5 from the developers humble bundle. It's still going as of 1/5/17 if anyone is interested. Last time I used a clickteam program was The Games Factory. Clickteam just updated their youtube channel to show they have a tutorial service at this website "http://www.fusionrad.com/onlinecourses/". I was thinking of taking the course but before looking into it I was reminded of this website and thought I'd check it out.
I'd like to see fusion become more popular, FNAF brought a lot of attention to clickteam so I think they are planning on keeping the momentum.
You know, Ive seen Shabadage using Fusion 2.5 on steam quite a bit lately. It's quite nice knowing someone from the old days still fiddles about with Clickteam stuff.
1. Overhaul of interface. Change from archaic look from 2008 to 2018. Mobile support, change to modern software like NodeBB, Discourse, etc. I know this would take a ton of work to convert this old site to a whole new system. Possibly have a patreon or other crowdfund thing to pay for it?
2. More admins. TDC clearly suffers now adays with lack of mod/admin involvement, no real news about Klik, even though there is quite a bit of things to talk about. Many games being released made in Klik, or at least sequels to games (Freedom Planet, FNAF, Escapists, etc). This site used to be partly about the Klik scene, and it's still far from dead these days, yet the site is.
3. More active users. At this point there is no reason for most people, even if heavily involved with Klik, to come here. Other than nostalgia. The site has barely any new games. With such a low userbase, it's lucky if two people comment on a well made game if put on here. And I think if the site was more intuitive in modern standards and admins built more interest, the site could at least become more than an archive of the Klik past.
