So there's this song from Flanville that I liked that played during the afternoon / evening hours in the game, and I'd like to have some idea what the song was / where it came from. some of the other songs from the game were from other games, so there's a good chance it was from somewhere else.

Unfortunately, since Flanville no longer runs without its server, I have no way of finding / recording the actual song, so the best I've got is me playing it on a MIDI keyboard from memory. So it might not be completely accurate or very pretty (turns out it's REALLY difficult to record from a digital instrument in Windows 7), but I gave it my best shot:

Anybody recognize it?

When you mentioned the afternoon, that reminded me of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, where there are multiple AM and PM tracks that are playing during the game.

And sadly, it does sound a bit familiar to me, but I can't really make out any identification for the track you played.

Sorry, buddy.

It DOES sound familiar, but I just can't put my finger on it

Would you mind if I used that theme you made for any of my games?

The midi I have from Flanville 108 is Kaori's Theme from Super V. G (Japan) [version 1.09]. Version 1.12 of the song is available from https://www.vgmusic.com/file/3ade3d9542c53049a51bfdc8e1afdcd3.html

Is this what you were looking for?

Do you perhaps know from which game is the afternoon theme used in Flanville (the music that Fifth played on his MIDI keyboard)?

If you have the executable you could likely extract the midi from it somehow. I would assume it wasn't encrypted or anything, just look for the midi header. It's likely appended to the back of the exe as part of the resource file, but I don't know enough about the way clickteam does it to say for sure.

Anyway I'm sure you could find a tool to search binary data to look for this:

Oh!
As it happens, I once made such a tool! It goes through uncompressed data and extracts MIDI files.
...unfortunately, it didn't find anything in the game, so the sound and MIDI data are probably compressed. It was worth a try, anyhow.

That seems like a weird thing to ask of me, since I'm not responsible for the original melody in any way, but if you want to use my keyboard recording of it then go ahead.

Just wondering, how DID you come up with this guess? It's not the song, but were you able to extract that title from somewhere?

That was the metadata from the MIDI which showed up in my temp folder (%TEMP%\Crt2A3A.tmp\Mid0.mid) when I opened Flanville. The music is used in the loading screen.

Scott's a busy guy, and I actually DMed him about his old lost 2003 games if he still has them, just so I can archive them.

If he doesn't respond for 3 weeks, I guess you could say that he sure has some others things on his mind.

Can you find try to find them?

The games I asked him are; Elemage, RPG Max (okay, that's a 2002 game), Lost Island, Ships of Chaos and Phantom Core.

Alright.

Here's a sad thing; even if you find them mentioned on DC GOTW posts, it'll say that they're removed, or heck, not archived.

I don't know for sure but I think scott had those removed for some reason. He kinda scrubbed this site a while back.

There was a fight in the comments (with Adam of course who is now Ski) for a review of one of his games here:
http://create-games.com/review.asp?id=3331

Here's the archived download page for this game:
http://web.archive.org/web/20080711134107/http://www.create-games.com:80/download.asp?id=7237

He posted a rant about how terrible fusion was in another thread right before he hit it big with FNAF, and then came back and apologized for the rant. The post might be hard to find now though.

I'm just curious how you found out about those older games from 2002? I didn't know he made anything that long ago.

And can you try to find most of them? Stellar Gun was recovered.

som_lastboss.midi
tnhome.midi
TN_-_Bird_Paradise.midi
tophydro.midi
topsaku.midi
top_fithingspirit.midi
Town_of_Water_(promise_of_love_remix).midi
T_AVGFighteDeath_Omake.midi
