I was wondering what video card are you using? If you have Geforce based card you need to update you drivers. They had some problems with their drivers and 2d games awhile back. That was a problem I had until I updated my drivers.

same here. i was once told XP looked like tellytubbyland with lots of lovely big bright buttons everywhere. i do agree to a certain extent... xp is more functional, but they've tried to make it TOO easy to use.
same here, too. i didn't get it until 98 started crashing on startup.. then i realised how much more stable it is

I don't get it with you guys, you refuse to see progress!
For me, windows XP professional (which I use) is the best and most stable os so far. MMF is also the best click tool for 2D and personally after 3 years with TGF and 1 with MMF i'll never go back.
Without wanting to start an argument with everyone, I agree with you Lew. Some people can't be arsed to get used to any differences and so stick with the old stuff, so they remain behind, tolerating the limitations of the old programs.
I can't always stay up to date though, I'm on 3D Studio Max 4 cos it takes ages for the newest versions of Max to be supported by plugin developers. I also use Winamp 2, because all I want is a simple mp3 player, not one like versions 3 and above that eat up RAM like a bitch.
I use XP pro, and I have never had a problem with TGF or MMF. XP is by far the best windows (Though 98 is good) I dont like all the flashy buttons so I changed it to Classic style.
Has anyone tryed Vsync with TGF?

I can easily run TGF and games made in TGF on my winxp computer. No trouble at all really. If you dump winxp only because of the looks youre crazy. Ever heard of classic style? no? well it gives winxp the same look as 9x/me/2k. Yes, it takes up more memory, but so does win98 over dos 1.0! That does NOT mean you use dos 1.0???
winxp is by far better than win98 if you have just a half descent computer. Its much more stable, especially at handling big amounts of data. win98 explorer tend to crash if you try to copy just 10gb between 2 hds.
Whoa! did I have problems editing video on win98? yep, you bet! Is it a sweet run on winxp? you bet!
As for slow games make sure you have service pack 1 for winxp installed. Then make sure you have the latest drivers for your motherboard (IDE, AGP), your graphics board and your sound card. And you DO of course have the latest version of TGF? (1.05 btw?).
I think it has something to do with the fact that TGF/MMF will stretch everything to fit the screen, and making everything a lot bigger will naturally need more memory. If i try and do this with a game, it'd stretch a 640x480 game up to 1280x1024, and ofcourse that's laggy.
Solution: Use a resolution changer object, and change the resolution, instead of fitting the game to current resolution...i think these 2 things look relatively alike, but changing the resolution would probably give you -more- memory since you'd use only the resolution the game needs, and not a bigger one...
